yeah im converting all mine into digital (take a long time) format, but i dont bloody go sell the frikin tunes again. i would never give my songs to friends with cd dj's when put from vinyl to cd, only song i give is a Mix CD NOT THE ORIGINAL!

I must admit, when i list very very upfront promos and test presses on ebay on 12", i sometimes get people mailing me asking me if i can record it to audio cd for them.

But what that guy is doing is just really stupid, especially when ebay suspend his account for breaking the T&C.

Funny. Suburban Train - Picture Disk. Doesn't the picture disk have the same mixes as the regular release?

Dont get me wrong I havent reported it to Ebay, although someone probably should, was merely pointing out that what he is doing here is definitely wrong!

Just hope people have the sense not to buy anything off him because its exactly this kind of thing that ruins the industry. Backing up vinyl to CD for personal use is perfectly legal but I dont think anyone here can think that this guy is in the right

I agree, I generally don't like snitches either. Keep in mind that there is a considerable difference between someone who informs the correct authorities because of moral/ethical obligation and someone who just does it to get someone else into trouble.

I wouldn't worry too much about the likes of him though, don't think he will be raking it in with that collection... Not saying they are all bad tunes or anything but they are not exactly hard to find either.

if that was my track he was making money off i would be so damn pissed wiv him
however on the contrary i wouldnt mind it getting swapped around p2p networks as i truely believe that p2p is the only resource some ppl have for hearing new tunes and i know for a fact that it actually helps record sales.... just my thoughts

I've had many people (non-DJs or just starting DJs) hit me up for my entire collection just because I have it on my Mac. To me it's not just a bunch of digital files -- it's quite literally thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of work. My collection is an extension of me and I wouldn't even want another DJs collection cause it wouldn't be mine. Weeellll I might take a copy of the tracks on PVD's Mac. ;-)

As dance music moves from vinyl to digital I hope that sense of pride and ownership in a collection isn't lost...
