Recommend a techno song

Since I'm somewhat foggy on exactly which style of EDM "techno" embodies (I know it differs somewhat from trance and house), I would like some recommendations for a techno song that you think represents the style, it doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite, but a great song that is good for identifying the genre specifically.

Joris Voom - Incident

(I asked the same question some time ago and thats one of the tracks that got mentioned)

Oh, thanks. I probably should have searched to see a similar topic, I must not have noticed it.

Joris Voorn

Check out Bryan Zentz - D-Clash for a good example of techno that's not as harsh and minimal as a lot that you might encounter.

No, I didn't ask here. The other mentioned was Adam Beyer - Drumcode 2.0

Haha I guess rn looks like m

I knew it was Voorn though, dunno why I typed m.

I want a song that's popular enough though, not something really esoteric.

D-Clash was popular amongst a lot of DJs. You could also check out Chris Liebing - American Madness. Paul van Dyk was caning that one for a while.

As for Beyer's stuff I'd say Drumcode 20 and perhaps 20.5, are better examples of techno.

H-Bomb - Groove Attack
Holden vs. Pound - Kaern Turned

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I would definitely want techno that isn't as harsh, but then again I'm trying to see if I actually like the genre that much.

Tiga & Zyntherius - Sunglasses At Night (Chris Liebing Mix)
The Horrorist - One Night In NYC (Chris Liebing Mix)

Two of the best remixes and two of the best techno tracks ever imo. Also Richie Hawtin has some good shit.

I would strongly recommend the Streets of Rage soundtrack

Posted by scAza on Mar-18-2005 22:43:

some well dodgy examples of "techno" here

kaern turned is amazing deep prog trance i'd say...

loving my techno for the last few years, i tend to like it bangin and really hard, or thumpin tribal stuff...

heres a few of my favs>>

robert natus and arkus p - hardcore salsa

valentino kanzyani - house soul (strictly tech-house i suppose )

max walder - orbit

panorama - destroy the sound (max walder rmx)

mitsumoto - rem planet / aromatic rala

Marco Bailey & Redhead - Watch Out
Sven Vth - Design Music (Si Begg Remix)
Sven Vth - Ghost (John Starlight Remix)
Sven Vth - Breakthrough
Felix Da Housecat - Happy Hour
Felix Da Housecat - She Lives
Carl Cox - Phuture 2000 (Oliver Lieb Main Mix)
Oliver Lieb Feat. Klaus Kinski - Jesus Ist Da

Posted by noikeee on Mar-18-2005 23:03:

Jeff Mills - The Bells
Joey Beltram - Energy Flash

listen to these 2 giant classics plus the already mentioned Joris Voorn - Incident and Bryan Zentz - D-Clash and you get a pretty good picture of it.

maybe get some Funk D'Void too, their stuff is awesome, especially Emotional Content and Diabla (Heavenly Mix). their tracks are techno however they're somewhat different from the others, way more melodic.

quite difficult to list tracks that are representatives of their genre.
adam beyer - drumcode is a good choice though.

maybe you should watch out for some sets (sven vaeth, speedy j, chris liebing, dj rush,......)

thats interesting, since im more techno addict than trance addict (shame on me to say that on such a forum ),
i used to be a tranceaddict with heart and soul though, but after some time trance was...well too slow ?
i started searching for tracks and livesets and was quickly into the hardcore stuff ( watch out for some cannibal cooking club stuff :] )...
not that i want to say you will turn into a techno bitch, but who knows...

edit: i still enjoy trance alot, but dont go to trance events anymore

Chris Liebing - CLR01 (Gaetano Parisio Remix)
