Sometimes I wish these announcers......
WOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP!
I mean seriously.... I am sitting here, enjoying a great live set... all into it and all... and all of a sudden the fucking announcer starts yelling, covering the music, saying stupid shit....Most announcers are cool.... but some of them, damn.... they keep talking... gets to me sometimes.....I wonder if the DJs ever get upset about this... I am sure they do....
Anyone heard the announcer for Marco V - Live at Mysteryland June 2001 in the beginning? What a fuckin moron.... thats one of them I can't stand...
What you guys think about this shit?? lmfao I know I am not the only one that feels this way about some of these sets.....
LoL! Yea, I agree with until a certain extent though... Like we listen to the sets from Quontact and we are like "Fuck, what an annoying voice", but I can only imagine how she pumped up the party there
.

or gary d live at qlimax i think hehe...The ones like pvd @ knebworth was coo but not ever minute please...i like it more if the DJ talks..except if judge jules is talking.
haha... its one thing for announcer to come on and say "this is live @ bla bla... with DJ bla bla... etc"... but to start talking to the crowd in some stupid voice etc.etc.... I mean, c'mon, shut the fuck up already..... We want to hear the DJ, not the fuckin annoying announcer that no one cares about......
i agree w/ u too, for the most part. i can understand when they announce the club or the dj etc. etc., but some of the shit that starts pouring out of their mouths
----but i must admit........i love pete tong's voice-overs
announcer for dj tiesto's trance energy 2000 is fuckin annoying.....so tiesto turned up the last song (airwave) and flooded that mother******!
pete tong is ok.....sounds cute
Yeah, Pete Tong is the voiceover f@#king master!
He always has cool intros.
When I hear a track from a mix where a Tong voiceover ought to be I even do it myself in my mind!
"As we take you to the balaric region, to Home @ Space in Ibiza, this is Paul Oakenfold, Enjoy!"
That jerko from Marco V @ Mysteryland is a classic hownotto.
I even erased him from that set because i couldn't listen to it nemore, the set rules though!!
And as somebody mentioned before about the MC on the Qontact sets (McNova btw), i was there and no she did not! contribute to the party mood in any way, she's got an annoying voice and says like stupid shit all the time!
I've seen her MC on some more parties and it always pisses me off.
I really don't know why they keep asking her.
Well in the PvD mix @ Knebworth, when PVD voiceovers himself;"Hello I'm PVD and all we do is dance", that was cool and made me smile cause normally the dj's don't say shit.
But there are a little to many voiceovers in that mix.
Ah just recieved Oakenfold EM @ Buenos Aires, now let's listen to it..............
I disagree.
Sometimes the announcer can REALLY make the crowd (and the MP3 listener
) truly hyped up.
Did you hear Judge Jules' set at Qontact?
Remember the 10th Track, "Heaven", when there's this loong build-up and this girl screams, "We need some noise! I can't hear you! Are you ready? Put your hands in the air and make some fuckin' nooise for DJ Judge Juuules!"
Man! That makes the whole build-up SO amazing!
As an aside I have the MP3 of the original song, and it sounds pretty plain and not so interesting, without the announcer's comments.
ya, totally agree wid ya on the mysteryland thingie. i personally deleted the voice-overs from the set caz they're so freaking annoying (can you imagine, that was a 2Gb wave file! geez!)
as ironic as it is, i started listening to oakenfold live @ liverpool university when i found this thread. and i thought that guy has a nice accent: voila, it's pete tong! he's awesome
damn mc's, they think they're cool and stuff, trying to pump up the party. well, they don't really have to, a good dj will do the job.
judge jules... hhhha. gives me a shiver every time i'm reminded of his only liveset i've listened to--live @ gatecrasher 2001. i should have probably counted how many times he says "this is judge jules". i FUCKING know that!
p.s. has anyone heard the nick sentience beat 106 clubmix 10/23/01 that was up on www.kuffdam.co.uk ??? that was a wonderful set i had to delete because i just could not stand the guy in the background! many, it seemed like he was being a commentator for a bloody football match! how can you talk almost continuously for half an hour when there's such nice music playing? geez!

lol those things are realllllly annoying.
Gielen at Trance Energy Feb 2001 was good, they kind of introduced him which I always think is cool. I'm not there to just listen to any old DJ spin some records, I'm there to see Gielen spin some records (hypothetically speaking) and I like it when they break the sets apart and introduce who's up next and hype it up a little! Trance Energy does a decent job of that everytime! Then Gielen did a little talking himself which I thought was pretty cool and got you right into it! "It's you and me for the next 90 minutes, ARE YOU READY!" .... "make some fucking noise out there!"
Love it
Wasn't it Armin @ the Docks last saturday who said that his TA-account was being activated? Very good text in my opinion.
All those other stupid overtaking voices (like the one from the House Negro in a lot of
'Clap your hands to the beat whazzzzzuuuupp whazzzzzuuuppp'
Shut the fuck up man.
Greetz, Mack
There's one set in particular that is an absolute classic for this: Sander Kleinenberg Live @ Impulz 01/04/2001.
I forget the name of the track now (the lyrics go "no way out for you....") but it's a fairly famous prog tune with really nice vocals..... anyways, the vocals have just started, in the middle of a really beautiful part of a beautiful track, when this Dutch (I presume she's Dutch) woman, with an annoying, gruff voice shouts out for no reason:
"Sander KlenenBEEEEEERRRRRRGGGGG!"
Which, yes is quite annoying, yet bareable I guess. But she just does not fucking shut up. And I mean it's almost comical really, I fail to see how anyone could be anything other than pissed off by it. Here's how it goes:
Middle of beatiful vocals:
"Sander KlenenBEEEEEERRRRRRGGGGG!"
About 30-40 seconds later:
"Sander Kleinenberg......"
Then, slightly louder:
"Sander Kleinenbeeerrrrerg!
Beginning of build-up/lull (shouted):
"Listen to the sounds! The sounds of Sander KleinenBEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRERRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG! (the "berg" lasts for about 10 seconds, with the high volume maintained throughout)
Still in the build-up/lull (shouted):
"SANDER KLEINENBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG!" (the "berg", while as loud - i.e. shouted - as the previous one this time lasts for about 15-20 seconds)
The lull finished during the last cry of "Sander Kleinenberg" and we are now on a beatiful climactic part of the track where the vocals and the music are hand in hand:
"SANDER KLEINENBEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGG!" (a shorter one this time, maybe 7-8 seconds)
Then:
"Listen to the sounds, listen the sounds, I said listen to the sounds, I said listen to the sounds of Sander KleinenBBEEEEEEEERRRRRGGGGG!"
Then:
"Listen to the sounds of DJ Sander Kleinenberg. I said listen to the sounds, sounds, sounds, sounds, sounds. (*brief pause.*) Listen to the sound."
Then (sang):
"Listen to the soouuuunds: the soooouuunnnddss of Kleinenbeeeerrrgg! Yeaya, heya, yeaya.....!"
Then: (after allowing people to listen to the music for fully ten seconds)
"I said listen to the sound, sound, sound. Sound, sound, sound. This is DJ Sander Kleinenbeeeerrrrrrggg!"
Then:
Come on! Wave your hands in the sky! Let me see that you like this DJ!"
Then:
Come on! Take to the groove and listen to the sound, sound, sound...... of DJ Sander KleinenBEEEERRRRRGGGGG!"
So, the long and short of it is, that that goes on for about 4 minutes - throughout an entire track basically. Even if all that dialogue was spread over a 6 hours set you'd be pretty pissed off, but incessant for nearly 5 minutes? A bit over the top methinks.
I suggest that you download this set - it only lasts for an hour - just to see what I mean. It's hard to express the shitheadedness of the MC in plain ASCII text.
I think part of what makes some livesets are the announcers.
I especially like the guy in the Club Eau livesets. Not too annoying, not too frequent with the interuptions, and he picks good points in the music.
LOL
