Synthedit

Im just checking out synthedit. hmmm im impressed

Im thinking of purchasing but before i do... anyone know of any similar programs. What may be better?

Also anyone know any decent websites, with stuff to help out on synthedit and stuff? (ive checked the tuts and there webpage.)

Synthedit is really nice, I find that when you build your own synth with it, you can control that thing much easier than one you buy or get from somewhere else, just because you already know about what all the stuff inside it does.

Reactor is somewhat similar to synthedit in that you can build and intrument out of the pieces, vaz modular does the same thing too.

Audiomulch is another package that lets you build sound out of little pieces, it is quite tricky though, I would advise making samples with it rather than trying to make whole songs. Another one is spiralsynth modular, its an open source modular synth thing, haven't used it much but it looks pretty cool.

There are so many fun sound generation programs out there, its a shame that people insist on using the same ones all the time.

Has anyone ever got into actually programming some VST's? If so do you know where i could go to learn some about it?

edit: When I say programming, i mean actual code...not learn how to program synths such as vanguard....ie C++, Java...etc. Just to clear up future confusion.

If you're into VST programming, get into C++ or Delphi. Then, get the VST SDK in the Steinberg website. Also, go and learn from open source vst plugins.

Cool, I was actually just about to ask the exact same question as UphoricNitemare but you read my mind. I know a bit of C/C++ and some other languages, but have never done any audio programming (again programming as in computer programming not music poduction)

I'll check out the Steinberg stuff and see what I can do.

After further investigation, i realize buzz might be a good starting place. They have lots of information on their website too...
