Dunno Reflekt Feat Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved samples Thomas Newman's Ghosts?

I tried doing a search for this but never could find anything to come up.. Anyone else farmiliar with Thomas Newmans Ghosts ? It's from his soundtrack for the film the Road to Perdition. Anyways.. in the middle of Ghosts (exactly 2:04) it has the same string hook as Reflekt - need to feel loved. Did anyone else notice this? Did Reflekt just sample this straight from the soundtrack? I wonder if Thomas Newman knows hehe & Isnt Need to be loved out on Positiva? uhh ohhhh.. hopefully they got the rights for this.

p.s. I know this song is soo fucking old now.. but I just noticed this and thought it was kinda strange I couldnt find anything in the forums already.

Written by Jay P, Seb Fontaine and Delline Bass.
Produced by Jay P and Seb Fontaine.
Contains elements from "Ghosts" composed by Thomas Newman from the original motion picture soundtrack "Road To Perdition"

Ofcourse mr Newman knows this. Do you really think they would be that stupid to use those parts on a commercial release without getting permission..

Well that's all I needed to know.. I dont have the vinyl.. It's actually in the mail right now. Thanks for the info. And trust me.. many major labels have released much bigger productions without getting sample clearence... Look at dr. dre lol

"Ghosts" and "Reading Room" were first used in the Above & Beyond essential mix...i think thats where the idea for Reflekt came from... anyway sounds mint

Hell yea, that version of ghosts that above and beyond dropped is amazing.. were they behind that production? I remember hearing it in a passiva set, maybe he can fill us in. Would love to get that on track on vinyl, but I'm sure it was only a limited release on Decca. Definatly a top tune.

Can you give me more info? Exactly what is the name of the song that samples Ghosts?

Thanks.

If you would have read his post more carefully you would have noticed that he was not talking about a song that samples Ghosts. Above & Beyond used the original tracks by Thomas Newman in their Essential Mix. (As a sort of intro afaik)

Well its the "Road to Perdiction" musical score soundtrack.... i.e is just orchestra, no beats or whatever. Above and beyond used to tracks of the soundtrack in their essential mix... they just had one to start and one in the middle and they faded their tracks in over it... so its not something u can buy.

they used:

Thomas Newman - Ghosts
Thomas Newman - Reading Room

if i remember correctly.

Well you could buy the Road To Perdition original motion picture soundtrack on CD, it's from 2002. Both Ghosts and Reading Room are on it

ahh too many tracks being sampled or remixed!!

BE ORIGINAL

AND.. dr dre clears all samples these days. There are very very strict laws in place in America now about sampling.

it wasnt dr dre that "stole" that sample..it was actually DJ quik....but it was put out under Dre's label.

uhhh.. not to get too far off topic here, but actuallyyy Dre's been sued like 3 or 4 times now for samples he's used, not just once. He's been sued soo many times now that he hired a special assistant in the studio just to watch over the material he puts in tracks. peeeeez.
