Tilt - Invisible (Tilt's Supernatural Mix)
I couldn't find the old threads via search, so thought I'd just post a new one...
Everyone knows the old story/myth about Tilt's Supernatural Mix (NOT dub) played on Oakey's EM in Cuba. This was being debated in the SSL forum and some guy posted the following...
"actually, the Supernatural MIX does NOT exist. i've talked to the boys at Hooj and have discussed this in detail with them (Ross and Christian). what you hear on Oakenfold's Essential Mix from Cuba is actually just a quick splice of some special vocals over top of the Supernatural Dub. apparently, Oakenfold was able to obtain some exclusive "Invisible" vocals (from Red Jerry...the label's owner) and this is what he used during that Essential Mix. if you listen closely you can actually hear him fade out the Supernatural Dub and into the vocals section. a few mins later he fades out of the vocals and back into the breakdown in the Supernatural Dub. this was somehow mislabeled as the Supernatural Mix and caused Tilt fans to start searching for this "new" mix. but the truth is...it does not exist.
now if you really want to track down a rare remix of "Invisible", see if you can find a CDR copy of the Courtyard Mix. this was a special ambient version done by Red Jerry for inclusion in his Chilled Euphoria compilation. and according to the Hooj crew this was not even made available to them. i saw this once on eBay a few years back (someone was supposedly selling a CDR with the full, unmixed verions of it) but i failed to jump on it in time and have not seen it anywhere else since. however, this mix does exist. it really is just an extended version of the Supernatural Dub breaksown but it is rather cool. i was thinking of trying to splice this mix with a few vocals and with the Supernatural Dub to create a triple hybrid that combine all the best elements...but i have been unable to find a copy of the Courtyard Mix anywwhere. happy hunting.....and good luck."
Just a little FYI for everyone. DAMN shame really.
Can we get an Invisible 2005 with a Supernatural Mix???
-Keith
Good to know so we can stop the endless hunting for it.
Back in the day i remember seeing also a few CDRs of the Courtyard Mix floating around on auction sites and other obscure places but for ridiculous prices. It's a good chill tune but i already have more than enough other tunes to hunt down so i'll probably pass this one.. and let others look for it instead.
would also be cool if someone found Dutch Force - Deadline (Moonwatcher's Dead Calm Remix).
I mailed Moonwatcher about this remix and even he doesnt have a copy of it. Strange enough he remixed it
I bet there are only one or two copies of it in the world
well...i guess that would make sense hehehe
Yeah I found it interesting, and disappointing at the same time. Does it indeed make sense to all of you? Can you hear what that person was talking about?
-Keith
i understood, and it makes sense now really, that is why the supposed supernatural mix had such a long breakdown (i mean i don't think tilt would ever do a track with ike a 4min breakdown). and that also explains why mick parks didn't know anything about this supposed version
...and yet another mystery of the essential mix world tour '99 is solved. Tune in next week to find out what really is that ID from Shanghai China.

Makes sense technically... but I can't imagine Oakey using an acappella.

UPDATE....
Spoke with this guy at Hooj and he told me...
"it doesnt really exist, There is a mix of vocals and pads which
oakey mixed in on the shanghai as you say. But I havent found that in
the extensive masters collection either."
*He meant Cuba
I had then asked if he had any other info on the matter...
"No but there is no Courtyard Mix... it is just Jay Burnet the mix man
looping around elements of the SuperN Dub. It only exists on his
mastering system so anyone who says they have a copy I suspect is BS."
So I guess we can all put this to rest now...

so should the track indeed be labeled 'Paul Oakenfold Mix' ???
emmm... i just read the above comment back to myself and realised how stupid that comment was....
I guess it should be something along the lines of... Tilt featuring Dominique Atkins - Invisible (Tilts Supernatural Mix) (Paul Oakenfold Edit).
I still do not know... I've asked Mick Wilson. He has no idea. I've asked John Graham. He has no idea. I've asked Mick Parks. He still has not gotten back to me. Maybe this will just never be officially solved?
*Update #2*
Mick Parks finally got back to me and... it DOES exist!
In Mick Parks' own words... "...Yes it is a new mix but it was a one off we did for the Ess mix...". So it does exist, but NO there are no vinyls of it for sale. Shame really... So much for one day collecting 100% of the EM World Tour tunes.
And regarding the Human Mix here is some info for you all that I just added to Discogs...
This release was a double A-sided DJ only test pressing done following the demise of East West and Perfecto's relationship. Tilt found themselves with no way to release their additional work and thus we have this test pressing... Only 50 copies were ever pressed.
"Invisible" was originally released on Perfecto with the title "Rendezvous". Dominique Atkins a.k.a. Grace heard "Rendezvous" and soon after wrote a song. "Invisible" was born.
"The Seduction Of Orpheus" was created as a piece of music for a friend of Tilt's who had a showing of his collection at London Graduate Fashion Week. Sasha fell in love with the track and soon after he had stolen the DAT and an acetate was cut and whilst in New York doing his Twilo residency Danny Tenaglia demanded that he take Sasha's slate. Sasha had to cut another copy. At that point only Sasha, Danny and Tilt had copies. Demand was so great that Tilt decided to put "The Seduction Of Orpheus" on the flip of this test pressing.
As mentioned in the comment above this is a great mix of "Invisible"... a bit more dark with some extra vocals it should have been the release everyone had a chance to play. As the story goes only 50 test pressings were ever made so sadly not everyone could play this one out. S12 released this mix of "Invisible" in 2005.
ok so the correct labeling would be
Tilt - Invisble (Tilt's Supernatural Mix) (Essential Mix Edit)?
