And yet by sharing that great information with us, you've still managed to remain a master of the "meat flute"...rivaled only by Yellow Pete.

it would be a little less gay if you did that with your clothes on. and i believe you meant to say cheers as you raised your glass of man-juice.

I wish Beatport had more and better choons.

yea, but the collection is growing. and they have some awesome stuff in their back catalog of older music -- some real good unheard stuff.

yeah but it would be great to get 10 new hot choons for $30 instead of $120 which is what I paid today

well, im done with vinyl for a while. i have reviewed the situation and at this point in time there is a lot more stuff i can spend my money on thats better than vinyl - for me. digital downloads from beatport it is for now. thats the whole reason i bought my cd decks anyways - to save cash.

Posted by DJ_Octane on Mar-22-2005 02:06:

I found some good stuff lately. If I can get my hands on some CDJ talent, I might play some tracks in that fashion soon.

Posted by Zild on Mar-22-2005 02:14:

I wish I could be done with vinyl but i'm sure it will let me know when its done with me. I would totally spin my choons in Virtual PCDJ(cheaper better FS type app) which I already have if I could find them on CD or in WAV format.

You guys that are getting tunes from Beatport - are you getting the wavs or mp3?

I've ordered about 10 songs from there and just took them as mp3 as I was impatient to try out my new cd player. I'm curious as to how long it took you to get the wavs if your ordered them.

screw getting the wavs. im not going to wait for a slightly better quality file. 320 kbps is good enough for me and any club system. i'm way too deaf to notice the difference

Yeah, I don't know that I should be so concerned about it, seeing as how I'm the only one who hears my stuff anyways.

Speaking of deaf, sometimes I can't hear SHIT when I'm spinning. It all just sounds like a great big wad of crap.

This ever happen to you when your ears get tired or something?

hate to say it but..over a GOOD club system, WAVs make much much more of an impact on the dancefloor than the 320 MP3s. To sum it up without the technical jargon, when WAVs are compressed as MP3s the sub-bass and the higher frequencies above 11khz start to suffer, not near as much as files encoded at 192kbs..or perhaps 128, but it is there. Mainly you'll get much more from the sub-bass from using WAVs as opposed to MP3s which is why I order the WAVs.

On average a week at most for me. 2-5 days depending on how busy they are I guess.

tho it would be nice if they have the server badwidth to let you download the WAVs directly. With a 160gb drive, storgage space isnt really a prob for me.

If I'm gonna be mixing for over an hour, I will only have the moniters turned up loud during blends (mixes/transitions). This way my ears won't get tired and I can listen to how it sounds on the dancefloor...and adjust the eqs if necessary. But yep, listening to high volume stuff for extended periods of time, will tire your ears out and adversely affect your mixing.
