-- Which way are your tables set?
Which way are your tables set?
Just wondering on how everyone prefers to set their tables, Horizontally or Vertically?
Examples:
Vertical
Horizontal

yea, its more for scratching.
not a big fan of battle set-up. cant stand having to reach over the tone arm in order to screw around with the pitch. I always feel like im going to know over the arm
just got mine setup for mixing. I don't see myself doing the whole battle thing.
I have my techs setup the way there were DESIGNED to be setup, and thats well normal.
Mix style, I dont scratch so there's no need to set them up battle style.
Eventually I want to learn to scratch and do some hip-hop beats so I may turn them if-and when that happens.
I have a crapy old deck, and its set up battle style because its a crapy cart + styli it skips wen i cue sometimes, and when its battle style the pitch control is on my right not left.
Horizontal, as per, it makes it easy to use and move the pitch...
I have mine set up horizontal.
I have battled as a DJ but even used horizontal then.
The vertical style came about as some DJs in the late 80's had trouble performing certain tricks and the tone arm on the left deck kept on getting in the way. Others didn't have this problem but as stated it's a turntablist thing primarlily designed to assist complexed beat juggling.
Frankly speaking, there isn't anyone (that's known) in trance today that performs tricks so complexed and speed based that they would need to set the decks up in the vertical manner so it isn't really necessary, that's not to say however that if someone liked playing like this there is no reason why they shouln't be allowed to.
The need just doesn't exist that's all.
Cheers

like this:
I find 'battle' setup very annoying personally!
I thaught the reason they used it verticly is so that the cart is furthurst away from where your applying pressure. I have no choice anyway i have to have it vert coz my desk is to damn small!

I had to put mine in battle style because i didn't have enough room at the time and just got used to it that way, i just got a new desk and it has enough room for mix now, so im gonna try to get used to that
I would put both of mine battle style because I accidently hit the tonearm sometimes when I'm beatjuggling but its good practice to have one each way.
at home i have them the rite way round (horizontal)
but at uni im pushed for space so i have to go battle style
I have mine set up horizontally.
