Glowsticks: love em or hate em
Just wanted to get a feeling what you TOTA's out there think about
glowsticks and people who give lightshows
I am a big fan of glowsticks as I give lightshows all the time, I don't mean to brag or anything but I kick ass with those things. I usually use 4 glowsticks and attach 2 in each hand with a keyring. Then I spin them around like nunchucks and I gotta say I don't think I've given one lightshow to anyone who wasn't amazed at what I can do.
A pretty cool thing about it too is that I get recognized for it all the time, I always have people come up to me who always remember me and as usual I have no friggin clue who they are but they remember me for the lightshow I gave them. I've also formed some "real" friendships from giving lightshows too and that's rare.
i have one comment to make on this........the people that like the glowsticks are so hardcore about them its not even funny......its almost as if they wish that giving lightshows could be their life long profession.....
much like yourself house_conXion
.....it seems like you take an alot of pride in them

I love watching light shows, and I am never on drugs for them. I got a hold of playa_247's sticks at the Docks last month, and I went nuts. I don't think I did a very good job, but I had fun doing it anyway.
glowsticks have always been around, it seems, in the EDM scene...I've come to see them as an expected part of the vibe at many places (like Guv). I don't like them in my face...but I like seeing them in the crowd.
Well thats what its all about...as long as your having fun with them that's all that matters
I used to be gino bambino glowstick palazzo ninja. As a result of this, my glowsticking chi is at level 7.
Despite this undesirable talent I have, I actually hate glowsticking. In the Guvernment it's not so bad, but for some reason it just seems kinda lame elsewhere.
There are a few occasions where it is acceptable, or even I might do it.
These conditions are:
1. A former gino anthem (such as Derb - Derb, played at Destiny @ The Docks in Feb) is played.
2. Someone (Flec), harasses me until I do it.
3. I am under the influence of something that would dim my reasoning.
I like a show once in a while, but just a quick one, but otherwise I don't want them flying around my head.................

Yeah I won't deny that you can find me in the Acid Lounge sometimes but like previously stated nothing trips me out more than watching myself
Man i'll admit, i've given and recieved quite a few lightshows in my day. Hell, there were times i'd go and ask someone who was good to hit me with a quick show. It's trippy when you're buzzed and if you appreciate the skills involved at giving a good light show you won't really mind it. It's the people who suck at light shows and come waving a bright lime green stick in my face, intent on giving me a crappy light show that piss me off. I suspect the same is true for most people who hate lightshows.
It's been years since I cracked a stick, but i always make it a point to check out what people can do cause i've seen some incredibly creative stuff -- and lets be honest, if you're at a club and someone has a skill which enhances the experience. Why not check it out. It's the same as watching some hot girl dancing to the beat. It all Adds to the visual experience.
But yea, glowsticking for TRANCE only please !
Don't crack that shit at da HOUSE, JUNGLE, BREAKS bashes -- you'll get some cold stares ! Glowsticking comes from rave culture. If they have to be used someplace -- then let that be in the realm of trance. Quite honestly, liquiding to trance with a glowstick for me is the only way i can dance. Those other genre's have their own dance, and it doesn't involve bright objects.
Hmmm, maybe that's why i haven't listen to Trance in years...my liquiding sucks !!!!
PS. Giving good light shows is a great icebreaker when it comes to meeting new people in clubs. At least it was for me...

Funny story...
Last week at Lawler, a friend of mine had glowticks, and hes dancing or whatever, im standing beside him, and this chick comes upto him, and asks, can i see those? He enthusiastically replies, "Yah, sure!". She takes them, and throws them across the room almost hitting a bouncer. Looks at my friend, and says "I HATE GLOWSTICKS" and walks away. The expression on my friends face was priceless.
As for glowsticks and lightshows, been there done that. It can be fun on occasion but it shouldnt be something that should occupy your whole night. The purpose of glowsticks and lightshows is to accentuate your high thus focusing your night more on the drugs and the high than anything else. Personally i like to balance my nights out and not be stuck in a repetative motion, twirling lights around and trippin myself out.
*almost post
i like to play with them once in a while, but i get tired of it pretty easily.
I think i can give avg light shows, nothing spetacular...
I dont like them myself but whatever floats your boat and someone who is good can make it look cool..
however the ones on the strings...those people need to be decked.
the place is rammed enough already, I dont need to loose an eye cause you are trying to look cool.
keep em in your hands

I love 'em. They are such an ehnancement to the tune of the music. I'm not that great at lightshows, and I just like dancing w 'em, so I don't really go up to people and stick it in their faces. But I can most definitely appreciate someone who's got skills. So on that note, if anyone at Decadence tonight wants to blow my mind, please feel free to step up. Your skills won't go unappreciated.
