Vinyl Flattener

Look at >>this<< for only about $2000 US would you say its worth it?

Posted by mzvirbulis on Mar-25-2005 10:03:

if you got the money!! and also i would rather spend it on new records and find my own solution to the problem?

Posted by mzvirbulis on Mar-25-2005 10:05:

although great work TOMMY i have been looking for something like that in ages. nice mate!

Posted by T-Soma on Mar-25-2005 10:18:

I think music stores should buy em and then they can juz charge a bit of money for sum1 to flatten all their vinyls. Unless someone wants to split the cost with their friends.

Nice find.

WTF is up with the price for that thing though!

Posted by mzvirbulis on Mar-25-2005 23:32:

hiring sounds like a great method!

Posted by Floorfiller on Mar-25-2005 23:56:

why don't people just take care of their records the first time around?

but i must admit i have a few records that could use that hehehe

That thing is awesome... Wish all local vinyl shops around here would have them... save us spending lots

I really hate it when I get a new record and its warped real bad. Lately I've been fixing this by gently running a hair dryer on low across the vinyl then putting it between 2 pieces of heavy glass. After leaving it there for about 4-5 hrs it comes out almost perfect.

Pitching in with other people is a good idea.

Its worth it but not 2000. If it were 500 or so then yes i would buy it.

I try and take care of my records, but I've gotten some in new that are a bit warped. Kinda shitty.

Also, Tommy that's an awesome find as well. Wish the Vinyl stores would take Timski's idea about buying one and charging per use.

If I won the lotto, I'd definitely invest in this item. But $2k is a bit much. But I guess there's nothing else like it in the market so they can charge that much.

Hopefully some other companies will pick up the idea and make some of their own flattening machines, and once theirs a few going around the prices should drop. Now that would be nice No more of watching ur needle surf that oncoming wave every two seconds.

some crazy turntables

i was looking at that vinyl flattener, and got bored and started looking at their turntables

check this out out:

in case anyone feels bad they dropped money on the 1200s.. this thing is $19,000 (yes--the price of a new car!).. oh and tonearm isn't included!

...some crazy stuff out there

Posted by Eric Siefer on Mar-27-2005 05:43:

Pretty damn interesting djshtr.
Again if I had the cash, I might get one of those tables just for a conversation piece.

Posted by T-Soma on Mar-27-2005 08:13:

Why is that so expensive? lol, unless it does some pretty cool stuff i wouldnt say its worth it for the looks

Posted by dj_nomiz on Mar-27-2005 10:19:

looks like it can also floss multiple people's teeth

This is probably the most entertaining thread i've read on here in a while. No bitching or anything, it's great!

But back on topic..

The only problem you'd have with charging people a small amount amount to get their vinyl flattened after buying that thing (as in creating a service..) Is that it takes a few hours per LP.. So effectively you'd have to buy a few if demand ever increased a little..

It is a very cool device though..

one of the worst feelings for me is buying an awesoem record, online or at a record shop and taking it home to play and finding out its warped to the point its unplayable. $2000 is a lot though. Record shops should look into those for sure though.

Posted by T-Soma on Mar-28-2005 02:08:

If i had money to throw around no doubt about it i would buy one. And maybe charge people to get their vinyls flattened to slowly make the money back

Posted by 3xx3r7 on Mar-28-2005 02:44:

Sounds like a good idea, especially for stores. Some of my vinyls are slightly warped.

Also, speaking of careless maintenance and vinyl warp issue, many vinyls that you buy, especially off the online stores, come warped. Some just warp over time for no reason. I take a great care of my records, but there are still some warped. Also, for some reason, the best records get warped the most.
