Doctor Who

Anyone see it??

I did, and all I can say is . I thought they might have started the series off with some of the so-called 'classic' enemies like the Daleks, but noooooo. Instead, the BBC in their infinite wisdom (and not quite so infinite budget) decided to make the bad guy of the day a walking manaquin, which was brought to life via the use of the Millenium Eye.

I'm not a fan of Doctor Who, so it doesn't bother me, but there must be some rather disappointed fans out there haha.

And is it just me, or has Billie Piper put on some weight??

i watched the last 10mins around jamies and it looked shocking. the BBC really is a poor show these days.

Billie Piper looks like she has caned the plastic surgery on her face as well.

The walking manaquins *are* classic Doctor Who enemies.

Autons! I don't have a clue about Doctor Who but even I knew that.

What was so bad about it? I though it was well mint to be honest... I was expecting complete cheesyness and I got it, the guy who plays the Doctor seems to fit the role quite well. Mental programme

I really enjoyed it. I though the new doctor was tyhe perfect person for the modern day (due to changes in social stereotypes whereby clever, authouratative ppl can still be quite cool) and it fufilled everything it set out to be. Poor production? cheesy dialog? Bad sepcial effect? have you ever seen any other Dr Who series that didn't conform to this?

Posted by Streakfury on Mar-27-2005 20:51:

Plastic walking men are classic enemies?? Well that just goes to show how much I don't watch Doctor Who.

If you wanted classic cheesy Doctor Who, then this certainly lived up to it, but that doesn't make it good, people!! Having said that, I'm still gonna tune in next week.

It was rubbish.

i think that comment warrants an award.

I really enjoyed it as well...you cant expect it to be riveting and realistic, its IS Doctor Who!

So pop you brain on the shelf for 30mins and enjoyed it, and count how many different versions of "confused chick" billy can do

I thought it was reasonable for that time slot; since most programs on Saturday evenings are not worth watching. The bit by the London Eye was the most boring part: while the plastic people were quite funny at times.

Haha yeah, and the auton people took about 5 minutes hanging around that woman only to end up dieing themselves. Poor autons

Yeah, I loved it how those things magically made guns appear in their hands. Imagine what the people who made them must have thought. "Oh, just in case the Millenuim Eye casually brings these little fellas to life, I think I'll equip them all with guns in their fingers".

I hope they bring back the Cybermen. They fucking rocked.

Lets hope so.

I heard about the guy not wanting to carry on the series. If they're gonna fanny about changing Doctors like they've done previously, I say they change him every series, just to give a sense that they actually want the series to be like that. Then they won't be typecasted so much. That, or they could just get someone famous for another role to play the Doctor.

Second episode wasn't too bad, I have to admit.

But I wouldn't call it exciting. Not sure if I will continue watching it after this episode.

What, the sight of walking trees, deep blue screaming bhudda's and the last human pancake-lookalike in existance didn't excite you??

They should ventue out more instead of being in the same room.

Saw the episode tonight. Quite good. The series in the 80's scared the shit out of me as a kid.

Billie looks a bit chunkier, but good for it. However my attraction to her is limited as I always get this overiding thought that shes a Chris evans reject and thats not a good thing.

Posted by Streakfury on Apr-04-2005 19:48:

I like to think she rejected Chris Evans. Makes things easier...

Posted by Fundamental on Apr-05-2005 21:25:

To be fair, Doctor Who has always been shit. I think Jimmy Carr hit the nail on the head with this gem...

"It strikes me as very unfair that Doctor Who has now had eight lives whereas the fans of Doctor Who haven't even got one."
