-- Lets privatize the police!

Idea Lets privatize the police!

So I was thinking, and I just came up with this genius idea!

Privatize the police!

I mean, privatized health care works great so why wouldnt the police too? USA has the most privatized health care in the western world (to my knowledge) and they also have the best healthcare! The people who can afford it enjoy the best healthcare out there, with the best doctors, the best equipment and the best hospitals and clinics! That thousands, if not millions who cannot afford it dies or suffer, is just a small downside of it, but let see that as yet another step for evolution, let the sick people who are not good enough die! So since this system is great for healthcare, then it should be great for the police too right? I mean, everyone can have their own security insurance, pretty much like the security companies we have today but this more as a replacement for the actual police! So the more you pay, the better security you get, while people with no insurance will get no security! And if a crime is committed against one of those without insurance, they would have to pay big money to get it solved, or just let it be, I mean you can survive most crimes! While those with the big bucks would get so many people working on even the smallest crimes, these people with money would get awesome security, I would say, the best in the world!

The police, no more right than healthcare! Lets privatize it!

Hehe, yeah, and maybe then we can also privatize the military and the CIA. It will certainly work better than these big and inefficient government institutions we have now!

quotas don't work in public industries, imagine what would happen in a privatized police force in which quotas would be an inevitable factor?

Yes and lets make all power plants, banks, and lawyers state-run conglomerates while were at it!

People die if they have no power, money, or a good lawyer. Lets socialize these industries to fix these problems. Government will take care of us all.

nothing that was privatised in this country by the last conservative goverment has even kept up with the standard of it while it was public

That has got to be the worst idea i've heard in ages.

First off US Healthcare may be privatized, but any emergency that comes in to the hostpital has to be treated, whether the people have the money/health insurance or not. (The Law is EMTALA if I'm not mistaken, google it)

If police were privatized, as you said the people with the most money would be the best protected, therefore bringing further segregation among the classes. We already pay our taxes, and the police are there for everyone's saftey, not just those who pay taxes. IE. if someone(be it a citizen, or an illegal immigrant) was getting robbed at gunpoint and the police saw it they intervene.

damn can't finish my rant now, have to go

I was beeing ironic, many people (esp in the US) support privatized healthcare and say that its no one's right to healthcare, while it is everyone's right to security! My point was that it should be equally as much right to have both. Most people who are regulars in here would get that, so sorry for confusing you

In the same way, if a person was beeing assulted and a "police" saw it, the "police" would have to do something about it without asking how he would get paid afterwords. but the police still would bill it if the person didnt have any insurence.

Every country (with its own currency) has a government owned bank - providing money. Most governments also provide some sort of welfare for people without any money, so in that way providing money to ppl that cannot make it by themself.

Many countries have regulated hydro market. Although i would say this is different from healthcare cause everyone can afford the same product to an affordable price, and if you do not, you would get welfare money cause you would be fucking poor!

And i would say it is everyones right to have a good lawyer in court.

Oh, imagine the horrific scenario of power plants being state owned. I wonder who was the owner of power plants during that California electricity shortage?
