Linux mixing software
Hija,
On Windows everyone knows software like Traktor, Mixvibes, AtomixMP3, VirtualDJ and alike. Some love them, others hate them, but that's not the issue here.
Since some months I'm a full time Linux user, and last week I got interested in DJ'ing again. I can't find any nice mixing software though
(sold my "real" setup years ago, I'd like to start now with software mixing, maybe I'll buy a new setup later on then).
I got a dualboot setup, but hardly use my Windows installation. My music files (yes, most of them ripped from my CD and vinyl collection) are on an LVM2 XFS logical volume, so I cannot access the files from withing Windows (I don't trust FAT, and can't write to NTFS from Linux properly).
Has someone got any experience with Linux mixing software? I've been looking around a little, but couldn't find any "decent" program yet
Thanks for any hints!
haha... my ex is a hardcore linux head, if someone knows of a good linux dj software product, maybe i could score some points with her...

There is a collection of links to DJ-related software at http://sound.condorow.net/ddj.html The most promising package seems to be BpmDj (http://bpmdj.sourceforge.net/) Also, FinalScratch used to be Linux-only on the PC (although it seems to be Windows-only now), so you might be able to track down and use an older version of the software.
yea... i dont know too much about it, the most i know is that her favorite is slackware
Just stumbled upon this site:

I'm guessing you could put wine on linux and install traktor?
yeah, why don't you just use a windows program with wine if you can't find something you like

because Tracktor already suck on windows, it would suck more on wine...
just get a mac and get Ableton Live...
u say ableton live, like its no biggie... the way big djs have come across it recently and startin to incorporate it, and speak so highly of it, it kind of intimidates me, but thats probably because i dont fully understand the concept of ableton. but then again, turntables and mixers intimidated me too at a certain point
haha even tracktor intimdates me at some point. Actually with turntables and mixers there is more chance that I'll screw up... so... I'm probably mroe afraid of them than Albeton...
Albeton lets you compose on the fly and do some other cool stuff with loops and samples. Just turn those features off!
