Calling all motorcycle addicts...need help
Hey fellow riders, I need your help with something.
Alright well I finally pulled her out for the garage after too long of a winter. A 1990 Kawasaki 600R Ninja. She only has 14000 miles on her. I took her for a great spin yesterday, about 4 hours in total. On the way home I decided to really open her up and went hard through the first four gears, of course, always shifting about 2k from redline. Now since i've done that she has been running pretty poorly. She idles fine, but once you get the revs over about 6k, she starts to sputter. Not a whole lot, and its inconsistent. What should I check for? Its been sitting for about 2 months. I checked the airbox and cleaned the filter but that didn't help.
Any advice would be helpful!!!
Thanks,
Vaedyn
oh.. i thought u were talking about "motorcycle"....
you know, as the rush comes.....
kthnxbye!
Maybe there's something wrong with the exhaust? I also took my scooter out of the garage last week and I couldn't manage too turn it on. Then I had found out, that spiders made a nest in the exhaust...
you need a tune up. plugs and the like.
could also be valves. the kawasakis kind of have that issue sometimes. Id just call your local dealer. at 16,000 miles you are supposed ot get the 16k checkup anyway. It blows and it costs 300 bucks but they open it up and redo valves, plugs, intake, everything.
sorry man that sucks :\
Its the jets.
Haha, well, thankfully youre all wrong!. My negative battery cable was loose. Tighten it and it fixed the problem!!
Thanks for all the help though. Back to riding.
Later,
Vaedyn
Being that it is 15 years old, I would still suggest a tune up. It most definitely wouldn't hurt, and would most likely benefit from it.
Yea, I gave it a full tune up last summer. Synced the carbs, adjusted the valves...ect. The whole works.
occam's razor strikes again lol
Thats sounds as though the negative battery cable was loose
