Just picked up a pair of used 1200s from ebay,... Im thinking of upgrading the 500 AL IIs on them since they're the blue kind (i'm guessing thats the Broadcast version??)

Anyway, I just found someone selling the Stanton 520SK for $50 for a pair (new)... is it worth the upgrade,.. or am i just better off just replacing the needles on the 500s? I know that eventually i should get the M44-7s, or at least the M35x... but at this point, i'd rather spend on vinyl.. I need them for about 80% trance/house and maybe 20% scratching now and then..

The M44-7s are a turntablist needle. If you're mostly mixing dance music get something else. I'd say go with nightclubs or whitelabels but since you said not to then go with the M44Gs.

would it be a bad thing to use Stanton 520 SK (Craze) for trance? Or is it just a rumor that turntablist needles cut up your records more than one designed for trace?

Those Stantons aren't much of an upgrade at all. They aren't very good for turntablist applications either.

oh so should i just replace the needles on the Stock 500AL IIs instead? I thought the 520s would at least let me use less weight since its supposedly more skip resistant than the 500s??

Its not going to be a major difference. I've seen pros mix on the 500ALIIs before so do yourself a favor and keep using em till you can save for some really nice cartridge in the future. You'll thank me when you don't end up getting rid of the 520s which suck arse and buying another pair. The M44Gs are awesome man especially for the price.
