Trance = Colours?

I was thinking the other week, that certain tunage sets colours...

Its fuckin weird, take for example Insigma - Open Your Eyes this track always seems Red (check out the sig for the others), it only happens with tunes i listen alot.

Maybe im just going insane, cause it feels like it

synesthesia also synaesthesia
n. 1. A condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color.

that's basically what you are talking about. there's even a track named after it.

The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia

Well im just glad im not insane.

Posted by Camwin on Mar-28-2005 08:20:

yea there has been a few threads on these.

the most significant songs for me would be:

Endre - "Kallocain" (Rob Nickson Rmx) = Silver
Jurgen Vires feat. Andrea Britton - "Take my hand" = Purple
Airwave Vs. Rising Star - "Sunspot" = light blue
Andain - "Beautiful things" (G&D Rmx) = White
Mirco de Govia - "Voller sterne" (Super8 Rmx) = Green

and a whole lot more.

Posted by Project 7 on Mar-28-2005 08:28:

Cool its totally weird, but cool none the less. Another green one is Airwave - Save Me

To evoke images for me is....

Envio - Touched by the sun --> Dawn kind of Yellow
Whirpool - Under the sun (Solar Stone remix) --> Late afternoon Yellow

It may has to be with the sun by itself...

Junkie XL - Synasthesia is better

i always get a dark navy type blue when i listen to Solid Globe - Sahara

Posted by Boomer187 on Mar-28-2005 09:02:

i always picture the color of the vinyl.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Mar-28-2005 09:06:

Well yeah that is good that you now have Synaesthesia as an explanation for this feeling, but your still freaking nuts lol

Posted by Tangil on Mar-28-2005 09:17:

So true, i've always thought that Rank 1 - Airwave 2003 (Breathing Breaks Dub) is a scarlet red colour and something like Tiesto - Adagio for strings is gold!

i picture the color of the mp3 .

I actually normally associate tracks where the first time I heard it was.

I always think of colours when I hear these songs...

Junkie XL Feat. Saffron - Beauty Never Fades = Black & silver
Plump DJs Feat. Gary Numan - Pray For You = White and light pink
POB - The Fly = Green
Ferry Corsten Feat. Shelly Harland - Holding On = Red
Ferry Corsten - Whatever! = Orange
Felix Da Housecat - Silver Screen (Shower Scene) = Black
Felix Da Housecat - Glitz Rock = Yellow

Yeah, MP3s are dark brown in colour.

Posted by euphoria on Mar-28-2005 15:31:

This happens to me on the occasion but its never the same color, the colors change depending on my mood at the time of hearing the song.

Posted by auranaut on Mar-28-2005 16:12:

I usually just get reminded... y'know, of old memories. If anything, I think of dark colors. Navy blue mainly.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-28-2005 16:24:

Kick drums are black circles. Hi-hats are white lines. Snares are fuzzy grey areas. Supersaws are orange fuzzy bands. Strings are light shaded smooth bands. Synth spheres are like Northern Lights. Sirens are like rocket trails. Vocoders are fuzzy, gnarly blocks. Deep acid is dark looping cord. High pitched acid is bright, thin, fast moving looping cord, as are guitar solos. Bass guitars look like deep acid. Guitar riffs are dark versions of supersaws.

I don't have Synaesthesia- this only happens with music. Often the colour sceme is based on the sleeve of the record.

I read an article in a scientific magazine about a woman (who plays cello in a symphonic orchester) who suffers of synaesthasia but not with the colours, with the tastes, a track can remind her a cake or a chicken. She can't eat with music btw .

so if she hears some DJ Sammy she gets the taste of shit in her mouth?

I sometimes see white and yellow spots if I hear The Boomtang Boys' Dancing With Myself, but I figured that was just from me banging my head against a brick wall in a feeble attempt to make the pain in my ears stop.

Posted by goozi on Mar-28-2005 19:26:
