Ok so my conclusion...

Tiesto > van Dyk... in Miami.

I liked Tiesto's set at Space alot more than Dyk's. As far as Ultra goes, I liked both sets so I cant pick a favorite.

That is all.

i was really impressed with tiestos set at ultra...i havent been feeling him that much lately, but he def threw it down. but then again, paul was HOTTTT at space friday night...so its kind of a toss up. but overall, i think i enjoyed pvd better!

I wasn't at Space Friday so I can't agree or disagree with you on this.

THIS I can agree with you on.

I'm gonna go with PvD @ Space on this one for sure. Although overall IMO Ferry laid it down best both @ Space and @ Ultra...

Tiesto was pretty good though, although it was pretty much almost exactly the set I was expecting from him, so it's a little disappointing, but he threw it down well.

Posted by fmaretti on Mar-28-2005 20:14:

I was impressed with Tiesto at Space on Thursday, thought he did very well. I could not see PVD on Friday as I could not get in after almost 3 hours of being in line with a will call ticket. He did very well at Ultra though. I also decided to give up Tiesto's hour set to check out Carl Cox since I had never seen him before and I have to say it was a huge surprise. He was amazing and the energy level was incrdible.

So I have to say Tiesto since the PVD's set was short for me. And it sucks because it was the one I was really hoping to see with a decent lenght set.

Yea.. Id say the same, difference to me that laid me go for Tiesto over PvD's set on Ultra was the experience I was having during Tiesto's set... hehehe if your ever with a chick and something special happens, tiesto played a set that fit right on the mood .. if non of that would have happened I would have prob. say the same..

WOW!! is all i can say about pvd's set. the Godfather of Trance!!!! rocked on friday & sat.

we had one of the best times ever at Space. good vibes with good peeps.

Incredible!! i'm sure glad as hell i got to Space early.

There's a reason PVD closes every year.

Reason: He is DA MAN. Enough said.

Posted by Vlad on Mar-28-2005 21:27:

Because Paul van Dyk is the grandfather, the master, the ultimate creator of trance and you must show respect to the man.

i loved it how the mc on the main stage and has decided that tiesto is now the 'man, myth, legend' since pvd has moved onto being the 'godfather' that shit had me laughing

as far as my opinion, i saw pvd at space and thought it was borderline pathetic. i did not stay to watch him at ultra.

tiesto's 2 hour set was pretty banging in my opinion. that last half of his set was damn incredible.

On another note; Buster was very quiet this year.. hmmmmm. I noticed there weren't too many Buster fans at the IDMAs either.

i thought it sounded like that same annoying guy that sounds like he could die from lung cancer at any time.

Not at the main stage.. I was up front from Infusion to the end of Oakenfold. He kept quiet. The biggest offender (I think) is a guy by the name of Rusell Faibisch. He's an associate producer.

He should be MC'ing boxing maches and not Ultra

I'm getting the feeling that Buster got the message. So what do we do with Rusell?

Posted by rubyriva on Mar-28-2005 23:43:

tiesto played such a horrible set at ultra. it was so painful (and boring) to listen to. when is he going to learn to spin? he was really awful.

when paul came on the entire crowd was dancing - it was the best short set i've ever heard paul lay down (until nby and tool were played). so glad he ripped it up though. after missing out on his set at space the night before i was really ready to dance.

ferry sucked - we gave him a listen after infusion because my sisters hadn't seen him before. we left shortly into his set.

christian smith rocked the carl cox tent - what a set!! that was a great tent - rockin' all day long!

enjoyed the end of pete tong and sander was fun.

i had way more fun at ultra than i thought i would. even ended up randomly getting a PvD VIP pass so that was fun during paul's set.

Posted by push01 on Mar-29-2005 01:03:

I agree with Caryn. The best 1 hour set I have heard from PvD. He was rocking. I was at Ultra in 2002 and I did not enjoy PvD's set at all. I just wish he would end on some of his other tracks. The "master of electronic music" has produced such intelligent electronic music in the past. I wish he would end his sets with a 45 RPM or Seven Ways track or an older remix instead of shitty NBY and TOOL.

i thought Tiesto's set was good, but looking back on it ANYTHING would have sounded better than Junkie XL's horrible set. they gave Junkie a perfect time to lay down some good tracks and he did NOT deliver at all...he was putting everyone to sleep, then tiesto woke everyone up

lay off the "stupid" pill bro..

tiesto's set on thursday was the most disgusting part of the week.... not only he sucked penor big time... I think he couldn't do worse even if moby was helping him.... I've been to a few of tiesto's sets....and I'll say it out lout, the space set was the last time I went to see him..... that **** is not worth a dollar... I'd rather put 8 quarters in the parking meter and waste ca. 2 hours standing there with no car, instead of paying a dime for any of tiesto's shite....

plus I've noticed he attracts the most retarded crowd... paying money to be surrounded by tiesto fans/turds = absolute waste of money

so...comparing PvD and tiesto is insulting for every gram of intelligence and good taste there is!

You and I must have been at two different Ultra's.

LoL no shit.

When he played Fight for your right (to party) I remember everyone around me standing up and singing along.

Dude, I'm no Junkie XL fan, but even I thought his shit was RAW. Energy-pumping performance, had the crowd going wild.

Posted by Vegas on Mar-29-2005 05:38:

I was pretty pleased with Oakenfold's set at ultra, His sets have not been up to par the last couple of years, but this year was rocking. A great mix of new songs with some classics. Maybe he is back...

People were going mad through his entire set. I have video of it. Junkie is a showman.
