DEBATE: Original Mix or Remixed Version?

The reason i started this thread was so that i could find out whether or not the Original version is usually better than a remix. I know actually buy MP3's Online and usually think that the original is much better...in most cases anyways. I've actually heard some pretty good remixes and have bought the remix over the original but..let me just see what you guys seem to think.

Depends on the track. Generally there's a better remix out there.

im just saying in general...im not sayin any tune...but if one of you guys likes a remix better tell me the song name and who it's by

Tiesto - Just Be < Tiesto - Just Be (Antillas Mix)

It's not something you can speak of in general terms, it is entirely varied and depends on the original artist, the remixer and the track itself.

+1

My point exactly.

A few years ago my answer would be different. But 90% of the remixes out there now completely suck.

Humm I have to say they're different (duh! Or else it wouldn't be much of a remix would it?)

Most remixes tries to make the music different, be it mood, speed, or even genere.

Good or bad, that has to do with taste... and that's generally a tough question to answer. Is ice better than water???

I think remixes gives a song more flexibility and longivity at least on the dance floors. Hey that's why they hire DJs right? Who want to listen to the same dance songs over and over again?

changing a bass line and adding hi-hats is no substitute for creating an entirely new composition. originals get my respect hands down, even though i may not enjoy them as much sometimes.

Some remixes are great it really is done on a per song basis as sometimes the original is amazing.

Trance remixes make up only a small fraction of the entire scope of EDM. Thus, I have to disagree with you here.

Well If I were to make a list of my top 100 or so tracks id say 90 of them are probably the original mix...

Most remixes abosultely are totaly shit, though some are better than the original.

Bassically theres about as much chance that micheal jackson never got a hard on over kids, than there is of a great trance remix.

Yet, you have a trance remix charted as your #3 track of ALL TIME.

Although I don't really listen to trance anymore, I don't think there's much to debate about this one:

Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape Remix)

I prefer Trashcan remixes, of course best suited for play inside trash cans. Yes, Oscar The Grouch produced the first Trashcan Remix. Sesame Street - Sunny Days (Trashcan Remix) I believe. It was a huge underground stomper back in the early 90's when trash can raves were just moving outside of cylinders and into dumpsters. But the days weren't all so sunny for Oscar. In fact, he took so much E, his hair turned green and he grew a unibrow. He used to be as handsome as Alf before he hit rock bottom. Oh well.

but listing 5-100 good remixs is not going to prove anything in this thread. Obviousely out of the billion of remixes there are, plenty are good.

all im tryin to figure out is if what i think could be true...are remixes today just getting worse and worse...i know they come out with a couple of good ones again and again..but seriously guys something arent meant to be messed with..i think some songs are suppose to be exactly how they are made for a purpose...its like making a bird fly without wings its just not right..itll kill it..just like most remixes kill good songs....and thats probabaly why us EDM lovers get half the shit we get because of some of the dumb shit thats out there...all mostly in remixes

Posted by Xenocreator_PG_ on Mar-30-2005 03:43:

original.

how about none of the G&D mixes ever.......

ya once someone lays down the groudwork for a track, usually remixers can build on it and make it better... in most cases anyways
