Very Dumb Question!
I feel embarrassed asking this but because iv neva realy been to any gigs where iv gone and watched the dj or anything like that. I never thaught about on flyiers how it says "live performance" what does it mean when a dj does a live performance opposed to a dj who just does a normal performance? Do they mix the instruments and synths etc of the song live or something. Sorry but i just had to find out
look at the names next to live performance and you will find the answer
This is probly because of my lack of sleep recently but i dont understand what your sayin.
I feel this is best answered from what i read of BeXta's website a while back... The sydney cutie DJ... Good enough explanation for me anyway

| What is the difference between live and dj-ing? DJ-ing involves 2 turntables and a mixer (and 1 or 2 cd players). I play records and cd's only. Playing live is where I play all my own material. I set up my music equipment (keyboards etc) and computer on stage. I play the keyboards and effect the sound in different ways (knob twiddling). When I play live, I also have video animation and cameras. My crew consists of Ben Suthers (production, general yelling), Jo Griffin (video) and Jamie Centofanti (lighting). |
id agreed with bexta, but id add that it is ALL music, not just your own, basically LIVE is producing in real time, or at least remixing in real time.
my thoughts ne way
I think you both would be right in my opinion. Both involve producing in real time.
Not to mention some sets when played live sound rather crazy go nuts... Anyone here into acid trance and seen Thomas Heckmann (Drax) play a live set?
I was just confused and i wasnt sure that if live dj ment he would be playing all his own tracks or producing live like what you have all mostly said. Well now i know
Thanks ppl
