Delayed Reaction

My internet has a delayed reaction. It won't tell me I have new e-mail on MSN for a few minutes and on direct connect it won't connect to the person for download for a few minutes (active mode).

Any ideas on what router settings or whatever else I can change to fix it?

Oh good...I thought it was just me...messenger is seriously messed today! Oh well. Back to doing more productive things!!

used to have trillian setup with all 4 chat services.
have since removed ICQ & AIM as I tend to get spammed through those services.

Yeah I used to use Trillian as well, but nowadays it seems that MSN is the prevalent app, so no need for the others. I remember the days when ICQ was HUGE.
But yeah, seems like it might be an MSN problem. There's a bunch of freeky stuff happening there. For example, their live-update of unread mail had tremendous delays if you check your mail with a non-IE browser, such as firefox.
