Terri Schiavo dies

Schiavo Dies 13 Days After Tube Removed
(AP) - Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged woman whose 15 years connected to a feeding tube sparked an epic legal battle that went all the way to the White House and Congress, died Thursday, 13 days after the tube was removed. She was 41. Schiavo died at the Pinellas Park hospice where she lay for years while her husband and her parents fought over her fate in the nation's most bitter -- and most heavily litigated -- right-to-die dispute

RIP, at least her fight is over. Now we have to see the aftermath.

Oh no! This must have come as a terrible shock to the family.

That's really, really sad although I think she was supposed to die... Life in a vegetative state isn't a life.

R.I.P.

Well, if interesting = true, then yes, it's interesting.

interesting comment = false, and interesting in why someone would say that.

She wouldn't be able to sustain life on her own in her PVS without a complicated regimen of medical treatment. That's not life.

Posted by igottaknow on Mar-31-2005 17:58:

Congress should pass a law making it illegal to die.

what is your defintion of life??

why did her parents ( the persons who gave her life) want her to live???

the TV coverage on this woman made me sick.

good luck elsewhere, Terry.

They were selfish and they didn't want to have to deal with the grief of losing their daughter. They even stated that if they had to amputate her limbs and keep her alive they would. IMO they were sick, selfish people.

That's just my opinion, though.

for selfish reasons, however well-intentioned. you've basically answered your own question. her parents would obviously seek to keep their offspring alive. while her husband, the one who knew her much more intimately sought to do for Terry what he knew Terry would have wanted.

Personally, I just thought it was stupid how they made a big deal about it. This should have been a private matter amongst the family.

I did not like how the media,right-wing groups, etc all made this ONE person such a big deal.

I think those resources could have been put to better use in other PUBLIC AFFAIRS.

That said.

I did feel sorry for her and did wish her the best.

RIP
