Rave Club Curfews - Mr. Bracks to the rescue.

Courtesy of another forum.

Bracks and the governement are gonna pass a bill as early as next Monday.

The Age

I think it was only a matter of time this would have happened seeing so much of it has been in the news of late. But i dont know what to make of it yet i guess til it takes full effects then we'll be cursing.

say, a 3 DJ vs. set with 15 mins each set ?

Thats fairly scary- its not just a curfew where by you can't get into any clubs after 2 but they have to close at 2. Its a shame they have pigeon holed the entire club culture by only using certain clubnames like bass station and hard kandy.

many business will go under due to this law and i personally don't think it'll go ahead

The 4 o'clock curfew on events should be moved till 5, that only means one less hasrdstyle dj we would have to listen to for the night

good post slick!

Just heard about this on the radio. It's going to have a pretty major impact on the scene I think.

Not good, guys. Not good.

Heard it on 3AW, not sure if any other stations are running with it. Tune it for the 1 o'clock news, see if they mention it again.

One thing is for sure, if this legislation passes, Mr. Bracks is going to get one hell of a lot of angry letters...

EDIT: What the shit is with all these april fools posts? Just heard about it on Fox as well (yes, I was listening to Fox FM ) so it's a pretty well-executed prank if it's just a joke. I'll see if I can find a legitimate link to it on the net...

Early on Easter Saturday we were approached by two men, in a group of four, who tried to sell us ecstasy tablets.

"You want flippers?" one of them said. "Come on, you guys, I'll sell you flippers at the best price ever -- two for $25."

Three of the four then posed for a photograph.

HAHA i almost suffered an aneurysm before seeing that "Welcome April Fools" line...

Also RE the herald sun article! I actually laughed out loud when i read that! $25 for a couple of flippers? What a bargain!! (WTF is a flipper anyway? )
And who wouldve thought that bass played hardcore house!! It must be like handbag house with added hardness...

wow i fell for that one bad, i just read that out to my girlfiend fully believing what i was reading, bracks is capable of some amazingly insane legislation and this really wouldnt suprise me if it had been true, just deeply infuriate me is all. i think my pulse has slowed some now. a few mins of 140bpm just then. :P

HAHAHAHhahaha... I was waiting for that but its still funny as.

Anyway as we all know it was an april fools joke i remember Bracks telling us in the news that banning a night or making them close early is not the way to go about it... He knows just like the rest of us that the scene will go more underground and not publicised and if "G heads" blow out... less willing to call an Ambulance or emergency service to the illegal party... thus resulting in a more fucked up system than we already have.

It is all well and good to blame the rave scene but i think its also time they had a look into everything else in melbourne town. I mean ive been to bass station numerous times when theres acctually something good on there but i also have been to twister (shutup). Same venue, diff night... and i had more people offering me "flippers" there.
