Delta Audiophile 2496 hiss problem

I am using a delta audiophile 2496 with FL5 as my sequencer and I'm using the Delta Asio driver. I have a terrible hiss, if I switch to the primary sound driver then it gets quieter. Any ideas on how I can get rid of this pls?

I'm not sure if you read the magazine "Sound On Sound" (I do)... But if you read between the lines of issue "April 2005" they are actually suggesting that you should use "cubase 3 SL" as it's only a few $$ or ��'s expensive more than FL (fruityloops), IMO fruity loops is a beginers platform...which I personally got to grips with dance music.

Soundcard wise get the latest update for the M-Audio 24/96 here: www.maudio.co.uk/index.php?do=support.drivers

I personally use this soundcard with cubase SX 3 and the sound quality is unbelieveable with about 10ms latancy.

Basically...FL is causing your hissing with the M-Audio 24/94, get used to it or upgrade to cubase SL 3.

I'm very sorry if this advice is blunt, but if you need any more advice PM me.

What primary driver? Not a different sound card right?

I think it might be the onboard sound. If it is how do I disable it? the driver is just called Primary Sound Driver, any ideas?

Onboard sound must be disable from your BIOS... when you boot up press the DELETE key several times until you go into the BIOS screen...there should be an option there to disable it.
Also, be aware that there is a new driver for this card on the M-audio website...I only just found that out too!

I use the Audiophile 192 and it came with the most recent drivers.
Make sure you select the M-Audio ASIO driver.

You do not have to disable your onboard sound in the bios.
Right Click on My Computer, click properties, click the hardware tab, then device manager. Go the the sound devices and locate the onboard device. Right click and disable.

do not use the Primary Sound Driver. Always use an ASIO driver because it's much better.

I had a look in the BIOS and there was no option there, but I'll have a look in the device manager for what you said.

have had a look and the usage box is grayed in the properties menu of the Legacy audio drivers. Any ideas?

The hiss is only there when I am using quite a few channels and FX. Has anybody else had this problem?

Sorted it! For some reason, fruity compressor and blood overdrive on a couple of channels were hissing. Took em out and voila, NO HISS!
