in future all questions regarding music creation should go in the music production forum.

to answer your question though - there is no best application. there are many available that range in price but truth be told theres not much you cannot do in buzz machines (free) or fl studio (cheap) that you cannot in cubase (expensive) or logic (even more expensive and complicated).

people produce great tunes in all of these applications. the important part is you understand how to use each function of your host, and learn to get the most out of the application you choose to use to write tunes. i use fl studio 5.0 and write mostly psytrance these days. i have some audio demos on www.soundclick.com under the artist name: wandering kid. all fl studio. all mostly freeware plugins. ive been producing for a year. judge for yourself whether thats good or not. i acknowledge i have a long way to go, but i also acknowledge my failure to write music to a professional grade is a limitation in my knowledge of my tools. not the tools i use. you would do well to think along similar lines. there are just various tools that in a round about way provide different solutions and different methods to achieving essentially the same thing - a song.

there is no holy grail sequencer. no holy grail instrument. if there were - we would all be using them.
