playstation 2 upgrades

so umm like i have this friend who wants a mod chip for his ps2 for perfectly legitimate (and legal) reasons. who here knows how he can get it done for cheap? preferrably who can do it for me err i mean him for free. but cheap would also suffice. ta in advance.

You can fly to Sydney and bring your *cough* I mean, his PS2 to a place in Liverpool...

Otherwise, try this:

(not too sure of pricing)

Posted by jizza on Apr-06-2005 02:09:

yeh rezza or alternatively every sunday at the carribbean gardens. an asian at every corner stall doin it... i guess that's my best bet at this stage. just wanted to see if i could get something cheaper.

Love Poundin' Sensation

trading post is another good spot to find e-hawkers who can chip the ps2's.

From what I heard price range was around 50-60 but my friend lost his taiwanese contact and cant import the chips anymore. If you can somehow get the chip, I can hook you up with this dodgy dude

My mate who lives up the road from me used to do them all the time, but he doesn't do it anymore.

Sorry

wow 50-60 for ps2 is cheap. i know x-box mods are that price but i've been quoted 100/120/140 depending on the type of chip. im not even sure if its right to say why exactly you want em chipped.

yes, they also do PS2

Posted by Light The Fuse on Apr-06-2005 12:15:

xboxes are better

Posted by jizza on Apr-06-2005 13:37:

OMG

okay for the purpose of this exercise lets list the following assumptions:

1. its for ps2 only!!! i dont care bout prices for the x-box and please, they will not cost the same but thanks anyways.

2. im in melbourne so unless i make like captain everywhere-at-ocne-man, i dont think interstate offers are gonna help me but thanks anyways.

3. paulie likes men. but we all already knew that.

ok thanks for everyones help. more useful, relevant help from now on would be further appreciated. ie. eros post your friends details. if he does not adhere to the assumptions as stated above, dont worry bout it. but thanks anyways.

*takes jizza's hand*

here is the info you want.

ace game store - www.acegamestore.com. they are on station st in moorabbin (just off nepean highway), and their number is 9532 3113. tell them the guys from the ETech Group (the folks that did their web site) sent you.

a "D2" chip will cost you $120 installed, but you can talk them down to $100 if you have cash. If you have an older 3000-series, your chip and installation is much more expensive - $170, but you can talk them down to $150 with cash. this is comparable pricing to what you'll pay at vic market or wherever, but here you get a real storefront, which means real-ish support, a receipt, and warranty and whatnot - if im not mistaken, a year warranty. I got mine done there and they were great - dropped it off one day, took it home the next. plays DVDs, CDs, PS1 games, etc etc.

is this the info you need?
