Sony MDR-700 <-----VS-----> Pioneer HDJ-1000

Sony MDR-700 <-----VS-----> Pioneer HDJ-1000

Which one would you recommend to buy.
I don't mind their cost and I don't want another headphones.
I just want to pick one of those two.

Which one do you think is better and which one would you recommend me?

Wait... Whats that? You purposely 'forgot' your crappy 700's at home this past weekend, when you came round to spin, cuz you love mine and wanted to use them instead...

Yea, thats what I thought.

**I usually am against thread jacking for my own personal msg system, but this topic has been beat to hell. Check the search in the future**

Any SERIOUS posters that want to help me?

They are both horrible phones.

You seem to have your mind set on pretty looking phones.

Well on a more serious note, if you want GOOD cans and not what seem to be the popular ones, check the Sennheiser HD25 and HD280, and like what Josh posted, the Sony V6s, now they are some of the best cans out there, I own the V700s, there alright, but are nowhere near as good as the ones mentioned above, got a kinda muddy sound, the highs ain't clear and they hurt your ears after a while I find.

or you could read through the headphone thread or the n00b thread

this topic has been beat to death and back

or you could head down to your local shop and test them out for yourself... *gasp* who would've thought going and seeing what headphones suit you the best would actually work

HD25

o wait...its vs 700 and 1000s. To be honest i have never used or wore or touched the 700s so my choice would be 1000s cause i own a pair my self.

Posted by Greedy on Apr-06-2005 06:37:

ive had the 1000s for 4 years until i broke them while customizing it so i had to get the 700s cuz i didnt have enough money to get another pair.

A difference i noticed was that the 700s were more comfortable on my ears simply cuz the cushion was softer, more of a trade off because ive seeen lots of sonys whose leather nearly rotted off from bein worn while pioneers stay the same quality.

Sound quality in the sonys of course was less than the pioneers quite a bit but the biggest difference i noticed was when i cranked up the volume while playing at a lounge.

Pioneers handled the volume very nicely but when you crank up the Sonys, the ear can was like a mini speaker thats amped so high if felt like the cone was hitting my ear. It got to a point where i had to hold the phones like 5 inches from my ear to monitor because it wasnt loud enough yet i didnt want anything to happen to my hearing. So i suppose the sonys werent as good with blocking out sound compared to the pioneers. These are my personal experiences and it happens everytime i use them playin out at lounges.

I also really hate having to be super careful about not breaking these headphones. Its gotten to a point where its annoying.

Id put my money behind the Pios.

People will complain about them for lots of reasons -
The cost
The supposed sound quality deficency
Cracking
Disconnecting of sound on one of the cups, etc.

However, there is a fair plus side to them in their ability to handle extreme wattage, and the sound quality is IMHO not too bad.

Im not saying people havent had bad experiences (see Freak), but they are a fair bit more reliable than the v700s.

People will scream v6 or senn 25/280, just like they will scream xone/rane etc. Find some headphones that sound good to you, then buy those. Ultimately you have to play with them, so get what YOU want.

Posted by Greedy on Apr-06-2005 06:48:

i made a tutorial on how to fix losing signal in the pioneers somewhere on here.

Here's a link on my site http://www.innerdc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=601

the difference here is that those headphones that people suggest are better and cheaper than the crappy flashy models! if you buy your headphones for the sound go with hd25 or hd280 or v6/7056 (or wtf the number was), if you want good looking headphones go for the pioneer hdj-1000s. since when has it mattered how do the headphones look like?

Yes
Sony 700s- they will crack, but will carry on working.
Pioneer Hdj1000s- they will snap and one of the cups will stop working. They are shite- 4 or 5 pairs in a few months taught me that- Just like a transexual who looks hot, it looks great, and it may be ok for a quick fix, but you know that deep down something is not quite right......

Fuck the both of them off and buy HD 25 pros or sony 7506s- these sonys are cheaper, and a million times better looking and sounding, and robust.

ok thanks alot people!
I appriciate the help =]

i have (dont use anymore) the v600s. they are only 20 bucks less then the 7506 and the same price (or a little more expensive) then the V6. And the v6 is WAY better.

I wont even sell my V600s on Ebay. I don't want to put someone through actually using them.

Posted by razzi on Apr-06-2005 20:16:

i prefer the v700s to the hd1000 because the v700 cups go all the way around my ears (supraural?), and ive been using them for ages. i like the quality of the 1000s, but i dont like the cups too much. and in loud clubs i prefer v700s. probably just because im used to them though

hi,

Sennheiser HD25's definatly worth it!

point:
these will last longer, i know people who have had them for 7 years and have treated them with no respect!

awsesome isolation and sound quality!

every part is has a replacement!

dont have any known faults! for example the ones you stated i thought i would buy but realised that looks can be deseiving.
i nearly went for the techs but HD25 WILL SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE LONG RUN.
REALLY 1 PAIR HD25 10YRS
MMMM 2 PAIR (OF THE ONES YOU STATED) 10YRS

you do the maths.

from my experience they have been a dream no probs, and i have droped them a few times!

so personal opinion goes to HD25'S, do really want to worry about your headphones all the time if they are prone to easy faults or damadge. with HD25'S you never even think about them thats how good they r.
although it all ^2u bro?
