Why am I being a "girl weener? Help guys
Hello folks...
Im just wondering about something, if you guys think this is funny, fuck off
I am "scared" of talking in front of groups, say a presentation in class, even though it's only 15-20 people, AND even when I know most of the people. Why do you guys think some people are like this, like nervous when talking in front of e.g. a class?
Besides from that I am normal (trust me
) lots of friends and its not like im only staying at TA and have computer friends.. hehe
Are there any "cure" for this? well, you know what I mean
Edit:for topic Meant to write puss Y, but only got ***
you are either just shy or have an aprehensive social disorder, yes it can be "cured" you must break it on your own. Your fear must be overcome by your want to be social.
thats funny i speak better in front of whole groups of ppl then i think i do one on one.

Well thats the thing. Im perfectly aware taht I know the most about the subject/topic. another thing; they are all my friends so they wouldnt even judge me IF i did mistakes.
I know I shouldnt be scared, but thats just how I am I guess
fyi, girls do not have 'weeners'

it's good to be a bit nervous when doing presentations, that way you'll keep yourself sharp and concentrated on your subject/presentation (a teacher told me this once). But as with everything else, too much of it can screw things up

Well, Im having my talk tomorrow in English. its a review of the movie Hero.. Anyone seen it?
Just keep practicing.. The more you talk in public, the more you'll get self confidence.
I often have to do presentations for school, at the beginning I was always shaking like hell but now it's OK (although I still get nervous).
edit: I've seen Hero, it's beautiful but I preferred Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

and you don't have a social disorder, a disorder implies that it is abnormal, and this is very prevolent. what you can do is try to learn relaxation techniques. Certain ways to breath, thing to think of that calm you...and utilize those when talking.

Not sure what you mean by debilatating fear, but I guess its one level over "annoyance fear" say Im thinking that Im doing my talk tomorrow, my heart starts to pound slower. its really weird. I even get "scared" just thinking of doing a presentation. I just get nervous I guess, and afraid I might say something wrong or pronounce something wrong. Maybe im afraid of doing mistakes, and thats why I get all nervous? |
heres the deal: My teacher said this to everyone; if someone have are nervous about talking in front of groups, you could always tape it... I talked to my teacher and said I might hand it in on tape, but she said you seem like a confident speaker. I've been an exchange student in australia fro 10 weeks now, so yeah, i dont know what to do..
go for a speak, or tape it?

If you do these things right before the presentation, it should help a lot, these techniques are a staple in the salesman world
1. Sit down, relax, and think about the worst thing that can happen during your presentation. Ask yourself if this outcome is worthy to worry or be nerveous about. Then affirm to yourself that you accept this outcome if it does happen, and that you can live with it.
2. Close your eyes and VISUALIZE your presentation if it happened to be the best presentation of your life. Really get into it, with lots of details about how confidently you talk, and how your audience is totally into it, and everything is just perfect.
If you do it right you'll take some of the edge off fo sho
I have to go to bed now, thanks for everything folks
