- Trance, Hard Dance, Hard Style -

BK (Nukleuz, Nettwerk, www.bkworld.com) UK
Ben Keen, a.k.a. BK, is recognized the world over as the most successful and prolific hard dance producer of all time. With worldwide dance chart hits like Music Is Moving, Hoovers n Horns, and Revolution, BK has reinvented the genre of hard house and breathed new life into the style. And in addition to having conquered the world of hard house with his production skills, BK is positioned to take over the global DJ scene, ranking since 2001 as one of DJmags top 50 international DJs. He calls his sound ever-changing and full of energy, with innovative infusions of trance and techno that redefine the hard house style. He believes that the sound of hard house has definitely changedits got to, and whether producing or playing, the sounds that BK creates represent the future of the genre.

KYAU vs. ALBERT (Euphonic, www.kyauvsalbert.com) Germany
In January the single "Velvet Morning" gets a release on Anjunabeats in the UK. The following single "Not With You" is featured by the singer Julie Lutat. In July this song enters the German single sales charts at rank 93. In August after almost one year of hard work, the debut album "Here We Are Now" is released in Germany. Kyau vs. Albert do a remix of "Jump The Next Train" by Young Parisians. This song becomes a worldwide club hit. Instead of accepting a lot of remix offers they do remix themselves to release "Made Of Sun" and "Falling Anywhere" from their album. 2005 will be a huge year for these guys and were honored to have their first act in Vancouver!

JK WALKER (www.xtremeuk.biz) - UK
Banging melodic hardtrance, it's the sound many people are currently looking for. Our search for hardtrance ends in the UK where JK Walker is making waves. His highly popular uplifting sound already brought him to clubs all around the UK and abroad. His first tour through Australia has been a great success while his first compilation in the USA (Secret Life Of Trance) is also a fact. Listening to his recent remixes for Bas & Ram (ID&T / Q-Dance) and Scot Project (Overdose) will only confirm what u've already guessed: JK Walker is the hardtrance artist to look out for. This will be JK Walkers first ever appearance in Vancouver and we expect him to rock the dance floor hard!!

MARCOS (Bulletproof, www.mostwanteduk.com) UK
Marcos Euphonic is the 21 year old future Trance star exploding onto the UK scene. Having produced and remixed over 40 club anthems under the guises of Marcos and Euphonic on labels like Bulletproof, 90Degree North, Ultra Di Fuse and NuLife its no wonder he is getting the full support of all the A-list trance DJs. DJs like Marco V, Armin Van Burren, Ferry Costen, Tiesto, Judge Jules, Dave Pearce and Eddie Halliwell to name a few are all singing his production praises. Be prepared for an unbelievable set as this will be Marcos first ever appearance in Vancouver.

SHY BROTHERS (Solid Trax, www.shybrothers.com)
Its finally here! After the smashing hit NEMESIS the brothers have the second single LOST LOVE out on Solid Trax (www.solid-trax.com) including a very special remix by Marcos. Watch out for the follow up Single Heaven & Earth, for more info please check their website. Expect the Unexpected!

DREAM STAGE
- Breaks, House, Jungle, DnB -
hosted by SUPER STAN

ICEY (www.pamdjs.com) USA
The long awaited is here as Solid Corporation brings you the Legendary and King of the Funky Breaks DJ ICEY. Discovered by BBC Radio 1 DJ and longtime A&R kingpin Pete Tong, Icey became the first American producer to sign to his label in 1997 as an artist, and then the first American DJ to be selected to record a prestigious "Essential Mix". With over 200 12 singles under his production belt, the King of Breaks has SoundScanned over 300,000 units in North America alone. Playing 125+ gigs per year, Icey is a touring maniac. But that doesnt keep him out of the studio during the week working on new tracks, constantly trying to push the envelope to make his fans sweat on the dance floor. Rising to worldwide prominence out of the fertile Orlando electronic music scene which has spawned the likes of Kimball Collins, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, and Baby Anne, Icey cut his teeth at the legendary EDGE nightclub in the mid-90s, and even persuaded The Chemical Brothers to play their first show Stateside there. Be prepared for a funky treat as the King of Funky Breaks graces the decks of Fusion Dreams.

JOSH THE FUNKY1 (Funktion/Fused - www.thefunky1.com) - USA
Josh "The Funky 1" hails from Chicago, the home of House Music. A D.J. for over 12 years, Josh blends a unique style of funky house, tech-house and breaks, while incorporating ill-scratching and turntable tricks. In 1999 he competed in the Winter Music Conference scratching competition where he was a runner up to 3-time world champion D.J. Craze. In 2000 Josh took 1st place in the beat-mixing competition at the Winter Music Conference D.J. spin-off. Aside from competing, Josh's passion for music has led him to compile several mix compilations including his own "House Funktion" series, which showcases his diverse music selection and wicked turntable skills. Josh has also helped co-produce legendary D.J. BadBoyBill's "Bangin the Box Vol. 4" and "Banging in London" mix compilations. As if his DJing accomplishments weren't enough, Josh has also had his hand in the studio producing tracks for the infamous Chicago labels I.H.R, Kid Dynamite, and Strictly Hype Recordings. His tracks have been featured on mix compilations and D.J. play lists throughout the world, further establishing his reputation as a D.J./Producer. Solid Corporation is proud to bring this Chicago's House & Turntablism Legend back to Vancouver!

DJ VITAMIN D (www.djvitamind.com) - USA
DJ Vitamin D -- also known as Derrick Daisey -- started his career in 1991 in Los Angeles at the height of the rave scene and has been taking the music scene by storm ever since. Teaming with DJs Nique and Sean Biddle for the N.S.D. Project, his other records include The Floorfillerz, and with the Pound Boys as The Funk Asylum. This long-time veteran of the dance scene produced the successful and undeniably catchy "That Latin Track" on IHR, and has recorded other catchy tracks under the moniker Floorfillerz (with producer / DJ Sean Biddle). In addition, he has various releases on over 40 record labels worldwide, including Loaded, Estereo, Nine Records, Pusher, Shaboom, Sureplayer, Look At You, Nocturnal, plus his own label, Colorecordings. Derrick's sound has been refined and recognized as a banging and dirty perfection of house music. And now, for the first time, he's branching off and producing tracks for the mysterious Infamous Player label in the UK. With more than 30 original tracks and remixes (several as the duo The Floorfillerz) due out in 2004, and the studio just getting warmed up, DJ Vitamin D is one artist who will be tough to keep up with.

SONNY CHIBA (USA)
versus

DJ VIZE (USA)
It's Seattle vs. Portland, in Vancouver! Solid Corp brings together for the first time two of the northwestern USA's sickest Breakbeat DJs, in a battle for dominance on foreign ground. Both names command massive respect in thier home cities, and Vancouver will soon understand why. Representing the Sea Town comes Seattle's golden boy: the one and only Sonny Chiba. Playing regularly up and down the West Coast, Sonny has gained a loyal following. His impressive mixing skills, and ability to energize a crowd, have earned him residencies with some of Seattle's top promoters.representing Portland with style is DJ Vize, the best-known Breaks producer in Oregon. With two successful 12"s under his belt, and many more tracks in the works, Vize's mission is musical dominance. More than just a producer, this DJ wrecks the crowd when he's behind the decks.

Sick Fuckin Lineup
thats a good lineup that came to 604 in a real fuckin long time .. just sick ... JK walker and Marcos usually makes Tunes together .. so them playin in the same building is just insane ... they gonna bust out some fuckin brain throbing hard-trance
very excited about this one!!! two weeks to go!
Is this all age?
I hate being under 18.
yep its all ages which is why the party will do well.
This will be the very first solid show i will miss. I went to allthe club shows and every rave up to this one.
i think that despite having mega~star vlado open the party i am not going and will save my energy and $ for armin and sander. Im not interested in any of the artists, and if i have to sit through one more BK set ill die. The older i get the less i like hard house.
I still like hard techno so its not the velocity just what that stuff does to my ears. Im sure kyau vs albert will not dissapoint, but they sort of stick out like a sore thumb at this very hard party.
I bid everyone well and hope solid continues to throw high quality events.
Adieu
its only 1 week away now and presales are almost sold out.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO VLADO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PIMP IT HARD. CHOP IT PROPER.
wished KvA got an earlier time slot but nonetheless, this is going to be fun.
i guess i will be the first to review the night.
i had LOTS of fun last night! got in around 12:30 and i was pretty much dancin' non-stop from 1am-7am.
didn't really pay attention to jk walker's set. when bk came on, different story, very hard, solid beats! i couldn't stay off the floor. marcos was rather disappointing. maybe its the tunes or what, but i didn't feel any of it. instead, i ended up busting my ass in the breaks room for a good hour or so before coming back out for kyau vs albert.
at this point i was so exhausted already and they hammered out all my favorities almost right away. find (kva remix), falling anywhere (rework) back to back and made of sun shortly after that. after those were done, it just killed me. had to rest in the bleachers and i thought it would not go back out. but that is until they played c:\del*.mp3. i went back out for that and they finished with velvet morning right after.
the crowd in the main room lacked energy. the crowd at plush for armin was far more into it. i didn't care though, i had a blast because the music was great and stereo sounded good without killing my ears.
as far as mixing goes, i didn't really catch anyone having a bad trainwreck. maybe just the odd time where they bring it in and its just very very slightly offbeat and they fixed it rather quickly anyway. anyone that said KvA can't mix, don't be so quick to judge. they aren't the smoothest (armin blows them away easily haha) but they can surely hold their own. the worst is still blank & jones when it comes to wrecking! btw, it was the blonde guy doing all the mixing. the black hair dude just jumped and pumped his fists all night long. i don't which one is which. so you guys figure that out.
the tune of the night for me has got to be modulation - spirits (kyau vs albert edit) which sounds pretty much the same as the slusnik luna remix which i still often spin to this day (2003 release). that realllllllllllllly made my night. i was just so shocked cuz i never thought i would get to hear spirits in a club/rave atmosphere. i never heard the kva version before but when the breakdown came in, i recognized it right away!
other tunes i heard and recognized:
energy 52 - cafe del mar (marco v remix)
underworld - born slippy
bk - revolution
overall pretty cool night. major props go to the guy spinning in the breaks room while marcos was on. very different from what i am used to. slower pace but funky and groovy. very fun to dance to. still wished kva was on earlier though.
ps: thanks ricky for the glowstick and hat shows.
