Anyone use Rockit 8 Monitors?
I am returning my Alesis Monitor 1 MKIIs. They just arent loud enough for me.
Guitar Center is pushing the Rockit 8s on me.
Anyone have any experience with these?
Alesis - $350/pair
Rockit 8 - $500/pair
1) I searched
2) I know they are nearfields and arent meant to be loud, but I need them louder.
oh god... i got the alesis active mk2's and i seriously wish i had gotten the rp8's... they sound sooooo crisp and clear...
the sound just punches through.... its somewhat on the flat side... but they definitely reproduce sound very very accurately... especially if your gonna be doing some producing too...
i will not be doing any producing, but i would like a flat monitor.
guitar center has been good about returns so i guess i can test em out
How big is your room (or was it basement?).
If it's too small, you surely don't want big monitors as the low end will reflect all around, making mixing harder for you (the original signal will mix with the delayed/reflected signal).
If you have a big room, just try out those RP8's. The 8" woofer will bring significant more sound (and low end) than the alesis monitors you have now.
If all else fails, look at some decent hi-fi solution or save up and go for those JBL EON speakers (or equivalent). Those will surely be loud enough

P.S. You might want to change your sig

The Rokit 8's? Are you sure they're not selling the KRK V8's? I have the V8's, bought them at Guitar Center for $500 each, and I think they're the step up from the Rokit series. I love them, they go loud enough for me. But be careful not to go beyond the clip limit or they will get HOT.
dude, Guitar Center owns 51% of this company from what i understand, thats why they are pushing it so hard. i worked in retail for many years, i know how this happens. i bought m-audio bx8's from them, but they kept throwing kvr's & rockit 8's in my face the WHOLE time. granted, the guys don't make commission but they do have sales goals and with those goals come a variety of bonus'. make sure to do your own research

I bought them last night. I leave for Atlanta this afternoon (Chable and Seamen Sat night!- hopefully the Masters on Sunday). I wont be back until Tuesday night, but I will be playing with these on Wednesday.
Guitar Center didn't even have the Alesis set-up with the rest of the monitors. When I was comparing the sound of the Monitors, the Rockit 8s sounded better then the M-Audio's by far, better then the MKIIs, and even better then the KRKs that were a step-up in their line, but they were the 6s, not the 8s.
As long as these monitors are a bit louder then the Alesis, and at least as flat, I will be happy.
Guitar Center did give them to me for $448 including tax. Only a $100 more then I paid for the Alesis.
The Rockit's are so big they dont fit on my current stands. I have to pick up some Mopads and put them on my table.

| yea, but i think if you have a good ear... its very easy to tell that the krk rp8's sound significantly better than the alesis monitor 1 mk2's and the m-audio bx-8's. especially those m-audio's.... the sound was just not worth the price at all... |

| they're not double the price here.. =). i believe a pair of rokit 8's are 500... or a lil below... and the pair of mk2's i got were 420 with tax... |
i got the rockit 5's these things are making me go deaf
i work for guitar center and ill tell you first that the reason they are pushing those on you, is because we make the most $$$ on the KRK monitors. for producing, i would go with the alesis m1 mkII. however for DJ booth monitors, the alesis just dont have the power or the right sound. those RP-8s (rokit 8) are really a sweet sounding active mon. very nice bass response and very crip clean highs. also give the M-Audio bx8s a listen. they are pretty nice and pretty powerful as well. i dont think they sound better than the RP8s, but its all about what you think sounds the best. if you do decide to get the RP8s make sure they give you a good price on them. I would probably hook up a good customer with those for about $220 a piece or at least throw in the extended warrenty for free.
if know what you want and would like a price quote, PM me. I can allways take orders over the phone and ship em to ya.
I had all the Krk Rockits.. returned em all.. They are too metallic and too over bassed.
The krk V8s are very nice, they are still a bit metallic though. and for that price range I would recommend just saving for the Mackie 824s
I speant 3 months listening to and researching all different types of monitors in ALL the price ranges.. Ultimately I decided what everyone told me in the beginning was right, the Mackies are the ones to get. Nothing else I listened to sound as sollid as they do.

Well its really upto your ears man (and your wallet). If you got em and are happy with the way they sound then your good to go. For me it was obvious that it wasnt worth it for myself to get anything besides the Mackies, nothing else sounded completely satisfying to my ears.
If you got the 8s and are enjoying them then you are all set. They cost less for a pair than just 1 Mackie so it really is a big decision to make and if you cant justify it then it wouldnt make sense to do it. Anyway, how do you like the 8s? peace
actually, i bought them thursday night, left for atlanta on friday, got back last night, and will be setting them up tonight. i will post back.

any updates cosmokid?
djmart is running a special on the rokit 8 now for $319, minus whatever I can get "knocked off" from "negotiating". I think I can definitely sell my M1s on ebay for that price.
omg!!! 319!!
i want to sell my monitor 1's too.. hahhaha
uhh thats each speaker people.. thats not a good deal at all. Guitar center is cheaper than that
