-- My house alarm and smoke detector just went off.

My house alarm and smoke detector just went off.

So I'm listening to 'Martin Roth's Hands On Keane - This Is The Last Time (Martin Roth Remix)' and reading some material to study for my Bio-Medical Ethics test later today, just now, and the loudass siren (my alarm) along with a high-pitched continuous beep (my fire alarm) suddenly start blaring. I get a call from the alarm company within a minute and they tell me my fire alarm went off and since my alarm system was on, they both went off. They ask if I want the fire department sent over. I rush through the questions (saying no to the fire department) and try to find out how to get the damn continuous beep to go away (since I was able to silence the alarm). I ended up hanging up and reseting the system. That worked!

Anyways, I checked all 3 floors of the house a few times but there's no shattered glass or signs of smoke. Upon returning to the second floor, I went to check the smoke detector to see if everything is alright. I walked RIGHT into a puddle of water under it. Turns up there's water pouring down the side of the thing. (It's currently pouring on Western Long Island) My house is a mess when it comes to leaks seeing as how there's one from between my skylights and one right at the window in front of the sink in the kitchen. Now there's ANOTHER one I have to worry about.

Damn it.

Felt like venting.

::goes back to studying (or trying to)::

Well... Unless someone actually went ahead and set my house on fire, it's actually pretty hard to cause it to catch fire. I have an electrical stove and the boiler in the basement is barely in use. Also, my fireplace hasn't been used since winter. Even then, it's kept under serious watch just in case the ashes fly out and land on the nearby carpet.

They gather outside my house in the middle of the night.

FSCKING SH*T!

IT JUST WENT OFF TWICE IN A ROW. The fscking incompetent people over at the alarm company had no advice to give me. All I was able to do was to ask them to put my alarm on "IGNORE" until noon (approx. 8 hours from now) so that they wouldn't follow-up if the alarm goes off. They couldn't even tell me how to make it stop.

I ended up calling a buddy of mine who works with electronics and the such. He actually guided me in unplugging and then removing the battery from the alarm system. I have THE BIGGEST FSCKING HEADACHE EVER RIGHT NOW and I still have to sit and study.

F*************CK

Dude, I can't believe I'm fuckin reading this!! The SAME shit is happening to me as I type this!! An alarm went off around 20 minutes ago and is STILL going off. People in my complex are all out in the fuckin robes and shit, wondering WTF is going. I thought I would come to TA and kill some time, waiting for the punkfucks to turn this death piercing alarms off. Each apartment's alarm is going off, then a giant fuckin bellend alarm outside. I'm very pissed off at this moment, but I've already made up my mind to call in sick because of this bullshit...

I wish I had that option opened. I could always take the exam the day of my final... but that's overkill.

Just curious... it isn't raining in your area, is it?

I hate alarms that, when they go off, your first instinct is "how do I get this to shut off" rather than "maybe I should investigate why my alarm is going off." Unfortunately that seems to be most alarms.

Hey Yan! No, its not raining here presently (Redmond, WA) Where are you at?

EXACTLY! These are just obnoxious. They definitely do the job of scaring the crap out of you and causing you to be on your feet, just in case.

I'm over in Nassau County on Western Long Island in New York.

Eesh. Did the alarm stop??

Been there and I also made a thread venting!

My first instinct whenever I hear an alarm is to wonder how it would sound with a beat, then I start bobbing my head and when I realise I'm beatboxing and dancing

Come on... have you never heard the "toot toot toot toot toot" of an alarm and imagined "toot tak-too ta-too-tak toot tak-too-ta-too-tak" bobbing your head and moving your shoulder left and right?

We listen to trance, for Christ's sake
