Can't find the perfect fit? Levi's has a high tech solution

| The Levi's store on North Michigan Avenue is looking something like 'Star Trek' these days. But no one is getting beamed up. They are getting measured up and down. The glass enclosed booth is called "Intellifit" and it checks out every little twist and turn in your body. "We're actually taking 200 body measurements from a person using radio waves because radio waves can see through the clothing. It's perfectly safe, accurate and private," said Ed Gribbin, president of "Intellifit." Those measurements are then translated into the recommended size and possible style that fits your shape. Say you're a guy about six feet tall with one of those little waists. You don't have any trouble at all getting fitted. But say your waist size number is larger than your inseam, it's not easy to get a proper fit. Using low power radio waves sent out from a revolving arm you are checked out with microscopic precision. And you don't have to take your clothes off. "It doesn't recognize clothing. It goes right through that and sees the water in your skin and bounces back and gives us a return signal from the water in your skin," said Ed Gribbin. Intellifit and Levi's are working together on this experimental project because sometimes buying jeans can be so confusing. They have over 40 styles and hundreds of sizes. "Jeans, like all things, change over time so there are other styles that might be better for you from your personal style. And what this does is help give you new information," said Amy Gemellaro, Levi's brand spokesperson Intellifit, which will be at Levi's on Michigan through Sunday, is free. The jeans are not. |
that would be wikkid.. I can never find jean that fit me properly... Even the shortened leg pants are way too long
It's about friggin time they brought this up here! I read an article back in '99 about this being used in California by Levis, and back in '03 I tried it out for myself, but didn't get the jeans made.
This is awesome.
Yeah, 1999.
