Hey

I was away because I was banned for postwhoring at the Florida forum (yeah point and laugh all you want) [you can go to the FL TA forum and read the whole story], but now I'm back... in the meantime I started a new site www.gerrycueto.com with cool stuff. You can hear the new (4am mix) of Messages in the download section.

Anyway, to avoid getting banned again... I'm not going to be posting as often. To avoid flamewars, I'm also not going to post honest reviews, unless you want me to. If you want an honest feedback, please pm me to remind me to review you track... and please specify whether you want it to be a public post review or a private pm review.

I'm sorry for any problems I may have caused, or for any thoughtless comments I may have made. Please forgive them all, and give me a change to start fresh. Being banned has been somewhat of a life-changing experience for me, and has taught me forum etiquette and the difference between good and bad manners on the internet.

Welcome back Gerry! Glad to see that you are a reformed guy now!

Your site looks good, and the tracklisting to that promo mix looks especially tasty so I'm gonna give that a listen.

If you feel like a challenge you could always take a listen to my first remix that I just put up a couple of hours ago. No pressure...

post honest reviews, no one is telling you not to.

but with honest (and even harsh) reviews, comes a certain level of courtesy and respect... i'm sure you've learned that (or hope you have.)

Yeah man sorry for what I said to you last time. I've learned alot from being banned. Sometimes challenging reviews is a smart psychological tactic to juice more review out of the person , but name-calling was out of line. Please forgive me.

Not everyone takes honest reviews to heart, even when they post the songs here for a review. A lot of people just expect to hear positives and encouragements. That's why I decided to only do reviews to those who ask for it through pm... and they can choose whether they want a public or a private review, to avoid flamewars (over artists not expecting that sort of harsh negative feedback).

One of the last flamewars got started with the producer challenging my reviews, but then he deleted his posts from where he challenged my reviews, leaving me all alone in one whole page talking to myself, looking like a total idiot asshole. Stuff like that could have been avoided if I had gotten permission to review the track from the actual artist in the first place (so that way they know what to expect).

As for reviewing technique, this is a whole other topic, I also need to work on. Sometimes my reviews come out like the anxious little kid at the candyshop, more than something a professional critic would say. Just right now, I had that problem, so I had to go back and fix that review.

I think arturob has rubbed off on me... at any given post you can catch an "omg i die i die" or a "hrhrhrhr"

hehe...well, Gerry has personally been a very valuable reviewer here as far as MY stuff goes. Im not interested in what you did cuz you're brutally honest reviews have really made the difference in my stuff and in my approach really. Now, I go looking for these types of critiques...he's quite specific and avoids the all-too-common cliche reviews like, "the kick is way to soft" or "needs some better mixing overall".

Gerry, site looks like it'll be good too bro! Once there's some more content. Anyhow, Glad yer back!

They're in the Southeast TA, but they're very old threads I bumped... I bumped like 10 old threads... with useless posts like "heh" or " " because I was in nightschool at the time with nothing to do and I thought it was freaking hilarious, and some other people did too.

I bumped crap like the Ultra 4 thread when they were currently discussing how Ultra5 went, and another one was someone wishing a user a happy birthday, but I bumped the same happy birthday thread he made last year and the year before... so there were 3 of the same happy birthday threads going around.

As for this forum I didn't have a problem with the mods, but I did have a problem with just about everyone else. My reviews were effective, they were just worded poorly. More like a little sarcastic kid poking fun of songs than saying the same things but in a professional diction. I used remarks like "wtf were you thinking?" "omg this shit really sucks" "I can't believe you'd think anyone would take this crap seriously"

I mean maybe sometimes a sarcastic comment is funny, but when the whole review is mostly sarcastic comments.. It cuts through people's self-esteems.

I'm not leaving because Swamper unbanned me a long time ago. If I were still banned, I wouldn't be able to post anything on here.

This incident occured a long time ago (around March)... and whoever bumped up this old thread was probably bored in nightschool with nothing better to do

btw promo 4 is coming this week... keep your eyes pealed maybe one of you guy's tracks'll be on it :P
