Filter automation in FL5 in playlist window
I am having a real problem being able to "draw" a filter automation into an arrangement. The way I am trying to do it is as follows: I right click the VST and select last tweaked parameter (being filter cutoff). Then I select edit events in new window, but the numbers on the top don't match the numbers in the playlist window and it loops back over as if its only the pattern block that I can run the filter through. Is there another way I can draw a filter in for the whole arrangement for an individual VST separately maybe on a separate channel? BTW the VST I am using for this channel is v-station if that helps, but I need to learn how, because I'll need it for vanguard etc... Would very much appreciate some help on this one, I am tearing my hair out!! I have tried the search button, but can't find anything on this at all.
Thanks.

Don't worry I've sorted it now. Thanks for your help all you fruity users. I consulted my local FL master in the end.
Well, Why don't you share it with the rest of us? or at least the noobs?
Fair point. I'm not gonna be as ignorant as the FL maestros. What you need to do is select an empty pattern in the playlist window. make sure that the song light is on in the transport bar. then View step selector so that you are viewing the empty pattern. Select the VST on the channel that you are wanting to filter and bring it up on the screen, press record and tweak whichever parameter you're looking to use (ie. filter cutoff). You can either tweak it live as the song plays back, or you can just do a little bit and then press stop and de-select record. Then left click the plug icon in the top left corner of the VST and in the drop down menu, there is a last tweaked parameter. In the sub menu of this, there is edit events. Select this and it will bring up a window with the "filter" in, which you can edit across the whole track. Hope this helps all u noobs!

Hmmm, will try that when i get home. I haven't fecked with automation much, prolly should start up.
in FL5, why would u bother with that when instead u could be making automation clips instead? far easier....
rightclick on any knob/slider and select "create automation clip" orwatever adn then u can extend/shorten/adjust the clip accordingly
