making a trance explosion sound

You know when you have a huge build up and then you need a drop, that is the sound I am trying to make. Kinda like a boooooooooom but not an oscilated sub drop but more like an explosion sound

like boooOOOOoooom, a swelling warm explosion that is more in the mid section then the bass.

How the hell do you make such a sound? It is 5am here and I am writing this nice track, well it has been 3 days or writing so far. I am really stuck on how to make this great boom sound that is not a kick sound but a midrange sound. I was thinking of taking a kick sound, appling distorion and reverb, cutting the lows for this effect.

Anyone have any tips on creating a sound like this...

Can you post a sample of where it may have been done? Not sure what you mean.

What about doing a filter/resonance (filter going down, resonance going up) automation on some white noise, and then fx, eq, etc.?

if you mean that very standard and poor effect ... going like boooooooooooooooooooooooooomppppppppppphhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhewwwwwwwwwww....

Simple...

just take a kick and put a whole loooooooooot of reverb on it untill it sounds like what you like...

pretty easy uh?

if it's not what you mean than sorry

ya they do

Well it is not really that sound. I know how to put tons of reverb on a kick and give it an expanding sound. I have done that before and it is boring. It is not cutting the mustard for my music, I need a better sound. I think that one you made sounds like absolute shit. I have used ambience to make one with micro tonic and I guess that is the best I can come up with. I guess it is the reverb that sucks, or maybe I will try pushing a bass drum from my jomox since this is just not working.

You honestly think that sample you gave above sounds professional? All professional sounds have a fatter sound to it. I might just try a crash highly reverbated, alongwith a highly reverbed kick and the double the tracks and add distorion.

All the rest of you sound like fucking idiots and should smoke more weed to make yourselfs stupider then you already are.

Haha dude, chill out...they're just playing around. That means you'll have to look elsewhere as they have no clue what your talking about. Can you post an audio sample of a song that has your desired explosion? Maybe I can help you as I'm good with doing effects.

you don't even know how to make the sound and you have the balls to say his is unproffesional?

I reckon he is after this sound!

"bbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttch"

If this was played at 400bpm it would sound like be-at-ch!

Other than that I'd check out some sample sites!

Posted by Flashback on Apr-10-2005 21:42:

You know I think it was just late at night at I was tripping. All you need is some good reverb on a kick and highhat.

Jesus I need a good hardware reverb unit

I am not sure if you can download that without loggin in.

can someone reup the mp3 sample and let us know how its done? thanks!

Posted by Flashback on Apr-10-2005 22:26:

yeah but it sounds good, I wonder what he is running those highs through to make them sound that crisp and wonderful.

Posted by RiCo on Apr-10-2005 22:27:

I imagined that was what you were after. I made a massive one...not sure if it's going to be too much reverb for you. I used Cubase Reverb B and Synth1 for the strings. My ears are horribly fatigued so it's not going to sound clean. Let me know if you want me to send you the boom alone or with the reverse cymbal with the crash cymbal altogether.

You know, now that I hear it, that sample you posted, it sounds like a regular kick plus the explosion sample from Fruity Loops...I used to abuse it in my tracks back in the good ol' FL 3.57 days, hehe.
