using vst (absynth) in cubase

hi..
i know you guys are good at this kind of stuff so i hope you can help me?

i'm using cubase SL2 atm and absynth v 1.3.4 and i want to know how i can use absynth in cubase to record my sounds?

would i need to use ReWire?

also i dont have a controller keyboard yet...will get one soon though.

thanks in advance

I don't think absynth records sounds...

If you want to know how to get it to work, you set absynth as a VST instrument, then create a midi channel and set its out to absynth. Also, under out you may need to set its channel to ANY.

You don't use ReWire.

If you're using Cubase, I'd just record the notes into the midi channel.

To do that, select it, press record and starting playing.

i did that and played a sound in the midi channel but nothing is showing in the channel strip.

In that case, my brother, read the programs' manuals. I'm pretty sure you'll find what's going on, which should be very simple and you just don't realize it.

Just set the small indicators on the timeline, to say, one bar of 4 beats - this will show as a shaded area, just double click on your midi channel in the shaded area and it will create a midi box. Double click again and it will open the keyboard editor. Then just draw in your notes!

just record through cubase in the midi timeline strip while recording,
with absynth as your output?
so instead use cubase's virtual keyboard in the midi event!
