Sound Factory to re-open under new management

Found this as I was surfing the web. Hopefully this guy can run the venue in the right way. The setup is awesome, especially for a super-sized club!

New York's Sound Factory Re-Re-Opens
Nightlife entrepreneur Eddie Dean has signed a lease to start operating infamous New York night spot Sound Factory this spring, just over a year after cops shut it down under America's notorious crack house laws.

"We have nothing to do with anything remotely connected with what went on there. We take those things very seriously and we take every precaution that's necessary," Dean told the New York Daily News this week.

"If everything breaks right, we're hoping for a May/June opening. We feel the timing is great right now for a new large club," he added.

Last March, New York District Attorney hosted a triumphant press conference after he indicted the previous owner and two senior executives on serious drugs charges, declaring "club owners and managers who allow their premises to become dangerous drug markets are no different from those who run crack houses." This is a big issue for us," undercover cop Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly added, "The whole club scene is generally one we want to encourage in the city, but they have to be run legally."

The club initially closed for a month in February 2003 after undercover cops reportedly posed as clubbers and bought various drugs, prompting the club's website to issue a stark warning at the time to revellers to be careful about their 'friends'.

"You may think you buy, sell or use drugs together with impunity, you may dance this night away feeling safe in each other's company," the site said. "But think again, your friend may be an undercover policeman."(Jonty Skrufff / Skrufff.com)

+1 for sure, I admitt it I like Sound Factory THE BUILDING not the people that went there and all that. I like the set up of the place and could be a very kick ass place, but they have to keep all the juiceheads out.....DO YOUR FACTORY SHUFFLE SOME OTHER PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a cool set up balcony over looking the dance floor, when I went tons of seating plus tons of room to move around, it really does have the potential to be a great place....I'm in to go

fock yeah! everyone always looked at me like i was crazy when i said i wanted to go, but i'm glad you understand what i mean. it's just an experience....not that i have a fetish for juiceheads or anything

this is just gunna be another example in which TA's bitch about the type of people that go there, as if every1 goes to clubs for the sole purpose of commenting on every1 around them... i just hope they get good DJs, no matter what juiced up guido or 50 y/o Asian is near me, cant wait til it reopens, ill be there first night/morning

then again its his OLD house. so I wouldnt be surprised...but theres always hope...

Man, it seems like everytime a new club opens, somehow JP just MANAGES to get his ass in there. wtf. cmon, ppl must KNOW of him and the crowd he brings, after soo many years in NYC.

well... i think hes like a virus, whos somehow penetrated all the big clubs of NYC, i doubt theyll let him in again, the only one he hasnt done yet is Avalon and Crobar... next week is Roxy... hes done Exit, SF, Spirit.... thank god its not the same ppl opening up SF, or else there would be a chance he'd be on the lineup, but i highly doubt it... the question is... WHO THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO BRING, with Avalon, Crobar, Spirit, and Webster Hall (especially) upping the ante', im very very very curious to see SF's bookings.

The new management is the current Discotheque owner(s)..I seriously doubt JP is going to be there...from what I hear, it is going to be Subliminal Session Saturdays w/ Erick Morillo...plus Iheard the names of Sasha and Carl Cox being thrown around a while ago for impromtu after-hrs sets...

Now THAT would be a dance club.

But I did hear the same about Morillo....that would be niiiice

bring ANY DJ every single week (even PvD, whos my favorite) is bad for the DJ and the club... they should keep it a monthly thing, bring different style residencies every month as well as guests, it only makes sense?
