hehe wearing earplugs and headphones.

is something wrong with that? lol

Posted by holycow24 on Apr-13-2005 20:15:

yes, protect your ears!

i do the same thing, PvDObsession - except now I've started just carry my earplugs everywhere i go in my purse. you never know when you're going to need them.

i like riding the subway with them in actually.... it's really weird to travel in near-silence like that.

15 dollars a PAIR!

They sell the exact same ones (I purchased them last year for WMC) at Walgreens for 5 dollars. Thats a third of the price and you don't have to pay for shipping.

Posted by trunks1022 on Apr-14-2005 03:40:

got mine at sam ash for 15 i think

Posted by vtec junkie on Apr-14-2005 03:43:

Yeah these are a rip-off. You don't need to spend $15 on earplugs.....like John said...you can find them much cheaper somewhere else.

Posted by spacechica on Apr-14-2005 04:46:

Thanks Daniela. Just got myself a nice purple pair.

Posted by PVDenraptured on Apr-14-2005 04:52:

no john and brian.

you can certainly buy a pair for 99 cents at quickie mart but those foam/plastic type 1> don't lower all frequencies correctly and because of that, they not only 2> distort sound immensely but they actually 3> don't protect your ears against the type of noises that can Really damage it, which are high frequencies. So even tho you think that they're being protected because the actual 'sound' is lower, you're not fully.

Furthermore, because of the fact that we, as clubbers, live for and love GOOD sound, it would be helpful to invest in earplugs that lower all frequencies equally as opposed to foam ones that mostly just muffle the highs while not protecting sensitive inner ear organs so we can still enjoy every element of the music we love to listen to while knowing we're not fucking up an organ we take for granted.

Also, if you can't spend a measely $15 on protecting a vital organ of your body that we as clubbers expose immensely on a weekly basis, then that's pretty sucky for you. you shouldn't put your hearing in jeopardy because you wanted to pay so little to protect something so valuable.

soon i'm gonna get myself a pair of custom made earplugs.. they run $100-150 but they're made specifically for YOUR ears (mold and all).

+1

all earplugs are not created equal.

good earplugs lower decibals equally.

I support your intentions but if you look at the pic below they look exactly the same.

here are mine

Posted by LuNaSeA on Apr-14-2005 15:00:

but they're not. the earplugs on loveyourears.net don't claim to be the best but they're still cheap AND they do the work that foam earplugs and pure plastic earplugs don't (such as the ones you posted above).

loveyourears.net actually have a patented design that uses a tuned resonator and acoustic ristor to give flat attentuation-- in other words, the higher the frequencies, the less distortion you will hear and better protection you will get from these earplugs.

that's totally the way to go.
i got custom ones in summer of 03 right after the tiesto night at the roxy when my ears were hurting after only ten mins of being in the club... that freaked me out.
what's nice about them is that they never get too gross cuz they're pretty easy to clean, and they're small enough that you can always have them with you.
if you want, i can see if my uncle (who is an ear nose & throat doctor) can do them for you. he's the one who got me mine. his office is in hamilton or trenton i believe.

Frequency this frequency that......I was a mechanic in the Air Force for 4 years and I know all about protecting your ears while standing 10 feet from a Fighter Jet with two cranked engines. The foam ones suck and don't do shit but never did I say.."go buy the foam ones" you can totally get a pair that will do the job for a few bucks.....not $15. So you go aright ahead and trick yourself into their little conspiracy and blow more money than you have to. That's like going to the grocery store and spending a few extra bucks on cotton swabs just because they say Q-Tips.

^ so please enlighten me, oh high and mighty airforce trainee, which earplugs would YOU pick then???

Posted by Miss Bliss on Apr-15-2005 11:00:

I have the $2 ones from the drugstore that look exactly like that... they mute just enough to make my ears not ring in the morning, it's really always a very comfortable sound. I want the custom-made ones, though, those rock, as long as they aren't too big. Maybe if I went out more though... no point in dropping $100 when I go out once a month these days lol

The ones John posted above would work just fine but doing some simple research you can find special ones made for music like these ones....

clicky clicky

and they are a little bit cheaper than $15.
