What are we going to do today?

What we do every day ... try to take over the world!

I like the one where Wacko sings all the countries of the world in a song.

haha for april fool's ... the university paper here decided to mimic the local paper on their first couple of pages (so it looked like youre reading the local paper not the school paper)
and one of their stories was about bush, pinky and the brain. it was awesome. they had an interview with pinky about what he thinks of bush and all he said was "narfff!"

soo funny.

Heck, we got that back in South Africa when I was growing up, with the weird pink ant-eater looking guys, evil tycoon dad owned a logging company or summat?

Posted by tribu on Apr-14-2005 01:01:

Animaniacs came after Tiny Toon Adventures in my time zone, and both were excellent shows on the local FOX station.

Some other top notch FOX programming included Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers, and XMen on the weekends. I also believe TMNT (the original) was on FOX at this time.

Nickelodeon had some pretty sweet stuff, too. Rugrats and Ren & Stempy, among others, were classics back in the day.

Posted by Allied Nations on Apr-14-2005 04:25:

anyone see Rocko's Modern Life?

Posted by tribu on Apr-14-2005 04:32:

Rocko's Modern Life was an A+ show for many years.

While we speak of Nickelodeon, let's not forget such classics as Salute your Shorts, Hey Dude (Two of my FAVORITE shows ever), Adventures of the Hidden Temple, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, Wild N Crazy Kids, Eureeka's Castle, and the original Doug (also one of my favorites). Other top notch shows included Pete & Pete (who's first season will be coming out on DVD and I will be buying) and Clarissa Explains it All.

Also, for a short time, they ran a british series where these 3 or 4 kids had several special powers, teleportation being one of the chief ones. It was a very cryptic and dark series, but I remember very little about the plot. All i remember is I highly enjoyed the show, and the kids could teleport to a beach type area by joining hands or some other nonsense. It also had something to do with aliens, but (much like my ex girlfriend) the show never reached a climax, as Nickelodeon took it off, probably because of poor ratings.

Yup.

Anyone remember the one with the action figures? That series was fucking brilliant.

Posted by tribu on Apr-14-2005 04:38:

My list of Classic Nickelodeon TV shows

Other great shows included:

Salute your Shorts
Hey Dude
Adventures of the Hidden Temple
Are you Afraid of the Dark?
Wild N Crazy Kids
Eureeka's Castle
Doug
Pete & Pete (First season is out on DVD)
Clarissa Explains it All. (First season out on DVD)
Ahh Real Monsters
Land of the Lost
Nick Aracade
Double Dare
You can't do that on Television
The Secret World of Alex Mack (That girl was so hot!)
Fraggle Rock
The Angry Beavers
Mr Wizard.

I remember the superhero show, but cant quite remember what it was called. It was hilarious though. Also, I believe the show I talked about a couple threads above was called The Tomorrow People.

All of these shows and many many more were classic. Nickelodeon is now an advertising shill, similar to what Disney was becoming while Nickelodeon was hitting it's peak. But in my childhood, they created believable (often) characters that dealt with real life issues and important themes rather than mindless entertainment in between commercials.
