Whens this out?

Posted by mzvirbulis on Apr-15-2005 08:19:

i think it should have already been released?

Posted by mzvirbulis on Apr-15-2005 09:03:

Project5 Version 2 starts shipping 4/21/05

this is really good though, it enables you to play live with ease, where as in reason 3 you have the combinator but it's much harder to play live with reason i think?
and you can also use it as a sequencer also.

Features are nice, but how much more efficient is the audio engine? That's a big factor!

I would imagine that the sound engine has improved in V2, I know that Cubase SX 3 from SX 2 has.

Well, I've never used anything other than P5, but from speaking with the CAKEWALK people I can tell you that they were VERY keen on accomplishing and IMPROVING the LIVE4 premise that this DAW had to be able to be the best software for LIVE performance.
That means 1/ The engine must be glitch free when dragging and dropping files even whilst playing back LIVE
2/ It has to do one better than LIVE4 by making it easier and quicker.
If it looks like a blatant rip off...consider that LIVE4 must have done something right! Now, consider what LIVE4's shortcomings are...be honest...and now look at P5 II to fill that gap!

They've actually improved on some of the concepts. I think the work flow is a bit easier. But Live still does things that Project 5 does not.

The fact that it can now act as a host or slave makes it very flexible.

Curious what that might be...
