someone had to make it
BOOO YAH!
hahaha good work guys, now where's it gonna be and who's djing?
Location: Madison, Wisco
Date: Sometime soon hopefully...
Lineup: TBD
There
I know, vague and pointless, there will be details worked out though soon hopefully...
ok, here are a few venue ideas:
Madison
Inferno - killer venue with a nice dj booth and really good sound. as lucas mentioned in the other thread tho, its quite a ways from a walking-based campus so its hard to get people over there. however if were doing this in the summer we're dealing with a COMPLETELY different crowd and it may not be an issue.
King Club - I dont think i've actually been there, but i've heard good things. they recently remodeled the inside apparently.
Majestic - can burn down and go to hell.
High Noon Saloon - also haven't been here, but it's new and i've heard good things.
Mercury/Portal - I dont know anything about either of these two, but I'm going to Mercury on sat. night so i'll fill ya in.
Casbah - awesome chill vibe, but its small as fuck. they have hookahs tho. both lucas and I have done nights here.
Oregon community center or something - Lucas referred to this in another thread. some little weiner kids from chicago tried to throw a straight up rave there in february, advertising to young ass girls. it pissed a lot of the locals off and most of the scenesters refused to go. i've heard its a killer venue tho. its also about 15 minutes outside of madison.
Minneapolis
Tabu - is shutting down in the next few days....boooooo
Quest - huge venue that gets tons of huge acts through. they do have smaller rooms upstairs (ascot room) which may be more suitable. ferry corsten will be there on Wednesday *drool*
Escape - there used to be a trance night there on wednesdays, but it has since been moved. i think the club wanted to get away from that type of music.
Chicago
Soundbar - We should get luis to hook us up. that's all i got.
We may be better off looking for a barn/warehouse type venue, but I really have no leads on anything like that. cancel that, i just thought of one, i'll send some emails.
feel free to add any venue ideas to the list.
edit: just wanna make a quick note about the madison scene in general. the rave scene was massive here years ago. its dead here now and everyone knows it. people are very cynical/jaded about anything connected to trance in any way. i'm all about throwing an event here but it will take serious promotion and luck to pull it off. people are too scared to throw trance/prog events around here any more. we will need to go balls out with the sound and decoration of the venue for it to be successful.

good ole lou bega, he's still EXACTLY the same since we lived together waaay back freshman year of college about 6 years ago. gotta luv that kid. he is rolling pretty deep out near chi-town these days, owns his own business and shit, and he seems to be pretty well connected in the city. i should bust out some old-skool pics of us at our first rave ever together, it was bad boy bill lol
ANYWAYS, its never too early to start thinking about addiction 2. hell, i'm still thinking of the first one. i know my set was the shortest in the evening, and you guys didn't get to hear a whole lot of tunes... but i promise you I will throw down a proper set with a wild variety of sounds if there is room on the roster at the next one
I had some new trance tracks i was hoping to end out my set with but time was working against me the other night.
I think if its gunna be a summer party, an outdoor event would be in line. How much fun would that be! But of course, we should take what we can get. At this stage I am really no help as I haven't been to Madison or any of the other areas before. That is, unless you want to do it in Cleveland!
Any of you guys drop me a line if you need help with anything like writing emails / checking prices etc.
how about minneapolis/st paul area? i talked to josh @ dc and he gave some suggestions... if madison isn't looking good, the twin cities could sure as hell host something decent
I was startin to think that way too man. They have a lot of options, and I personally think we could draw a much bigger crowd there.
What were some of the suggestions he gave?
depends on the budget, if we can promise a certain number of people then budget wont be a problem...for a couple hundred people he mentioned Baja...
when i was lookin through i noticed a few places i was unaware of, you know anything about The Venue, Stargate, etc...
i know stargate is a big top40 club that does those 16+ nights that all the slutty girls in high school get so excited about.
i think the venue is the same
haha, scratch those off...
i do like the idea of the cities....i have a friend up there....not a TA, but an EDM fan that i'm sure would be willing to do some promotion. a much better market for trance than madison. i'm down for the cities....or chicago
