Sasha vs. Tiesto Part II

Just curious to see the breakdown of who voted for Sasha/Tiesto, and how long they've listend to EDM. This is how it will work, vote for the option that has the DJ you voted for in the previous poll along with the amount of years you've listend to EDM. I'm interested to see what the breakdown is.

Tiesto is a gateway DJ, bets are the juniors go for him the seniors for Sasha, it all progressive. No pun intended! hehehe

I've had to change my vote since the last Sasha vs. Tisto poll because I hadn't really given Sasha too much of a chance. Recently I have sat down and listened to his stuff from back in 1996 all the way to some stuff from 2004/2005. All of it is stellar. He has redefined his image, his sound, and stayed true to playing what he wants and not what is popular. Though I still love Tisto, and his productions, he just cannot compare to Sasha's resum and consistency. I'm saying Sasha for the past 9 years.

That's what I'm banking on. I figure most of the people that voted for Tiesto have either never strayed away from listening to just Trance long enough to hear a real dj, or have only been listening to electronic music for the last couple years. In most cases I figure it's a combination of both since so many people were saying they hate prog house which just happens to be one of the most exciting genres of EDM right now. I guess we'll see as the votes come in. I could be totally wrong, but this is TA so who knows what the hell will happen.

It's not their work from the past 9 years, it's how long YOU have been listening to electronic music, and who your preference is.

In reference to this. I have been listening to trance since 1997. Back when Sasha was huuuuuge, though he still is. I stopped listening to trance for a while, and got back into it due majorly in part to Tisto's catchy productions. So, in all actuality, from the beginning I was more into Oakenfold and Liquid. I never really was listening to Sasha too much way back when. Now thay I have, I can see what all the hype's about.

krysta: so all of a sudden you listen to sasha for one day and change your vote for him for a entire 9 years.

Give me a break.

Tranc3 said it perfectly its who you have been listening to from the beginning and like more. I think your easily swayed thats all.

plus these polls are silly

Pretty much accurate....
Sasha's my #2 (see SIG below)- been listening since '98

I've noticed the Tiesto crowd has been staying away from this one. Guess they don't want to own up to the fact that they're mostly newbies.

Yeah, but at least they get interesting to read sometimes.

Sasha: 6-8 years all the way. Sasha is such a talented DJ, and so is Tiesto, but Tiesto is to commericalized if you ask me, and he is more for the younger crowd. Ask any teenager and they will say Tiesto is the best.

Sasha's old sets are unlike anything else. I love his sets from back in 1996. Oh my are they superb!!!

sasha 3-5

So far Tiesto's biggest support is coming from the 0-2 range. Not saying much since it's only 3 votes, but again I think the Tiesto crowd is staying away from this one for a reason.

Simple one: Tiesto.

Posted by DawnTreader on Apr-23-2005 14:22:

I think tiesto wants more money.

Posted by WM2 on Apr-26-2005 19:44:

Tiesto want more money??? Nah, what makes you think that?

Posted by sthus on Apr-26-2005 23:57:

Jeez, how long have people here been listening to trance for ?
I've only been listening to trance for bout ... lets see now .. 3 yrs, not too long ago but yeah, i don't like too much of the new stuff, in fact i love all the old stuff so much i can't get over how bad and commerialized some of the current 'Djs' are :P
I never really liked Tiesto too much, haven't listened to too much of his stuff, but i respect the guy .. i mean props to him for playing at the olympics, i would've rather had someone i liked play but good on him . Personally i'm in love with Hybrid, not everyone knows who they are so yeah, i guess my fav. famous one would have to be Mr. BT
I mean movement in still life is uneblievable ...
I mean how many Cd's can you honestly enjoy all of it ?
If any of you can get your hands on Hybrid's CD Wider Angle (the bonus disc) i'd recommend you have a listen, it has some unbelievable production, tight mixing and rad scratching

the rich want more ....its that simple

Posted by CrackedLcd on Apr-27-2005 22:24:

Tiesto: 6-8 years

Sasha was one of the djs that got me into trance, since he came 2 my area more than tiesto at the time. I always thought his tunes were a bit boring, but I always liked the kick and basslines. Around 98 I really got into trance, as far as the ferry, avb, tiesto sound of that time.

Posted by sthus on Apr-28-2005 00:25:

erm ...
Hate to break it to you son but the world of faeries and unicorns doesn't exist, Tiesto is a Dj because he can make money while doing something which he enjoys, it is allllll about making money.
If it isn't about making money why would he charge such high prices to book him ?
Cause he's a high profile Dj, thats why, to get a hold of him you have to not only have the right connections but you probably have to put your house up for auction too ...
The reality is he enjoys what he does, but as far as money goes, he wants to make more ... thats what human nature is ...
jeez mate, no kidding natural selection should've taken care of you a good 15 years ago

Posted by isoterra on Apr-28-2005 21:54:

on & off for first couple of years but 1996, which i guess makes 9

regardless of technical skill or whatever i prefer tiesto

Been on Sasha's side for five years. It began with his single, "Xpander." Not only did this track make me appreciate Sasha, but officially made me a trance addict!
