orkan - tight (just a concept)

hi guys!

i've been playing with this tune today and thought i should post it to get some opinions. it's obviously not finished, right now it's just a simple groove, i guess.

Not bad for a start man. Sounds kind of... Tiesto intro like but personally, i think that sound is a bit over compressed (Tiesto included lol). Just ends up taking a lot out of the song with such large differences between on and off that it ends up soundign muddy and not too fun to listen to. But that doesnt mean what I hear doesnt have potential. Keep working on it. I'd recomend making it a little less compressed but other than that, I look forward to hearing a final render.

Cheers,
Zac

you're right, it is a bit over compressed. hence the name "tight"

i'll keep working on it..

also, the volume of this mp3 is a bit too loud because i'm doing music on a laptop without an amplifier so i have the volume in cubase set a bit too loud..

Overcompressed or not, sounds really good.

I pressume this is progressive trance you are making here right?

Anyways, the sample is too short but I liked what I heard, not saying the guys above are not right.

yeah it'll probably be a bit progressive when it's done. but if it'll sound like trance, i'm not sure. although trance labels usually don't sign anything that sounds a bit different (which is why we're still listening to the same "barbers adagio for strings"-type trance today just like 6 years ago) so maybe i'll add some trance stuff to it =)

Oo lovely groove, i miss some phat hihat later on the clip.

I would phat up that synth a bit.

But nice beat and bass!

pretty phat indeed, i looooooooooove ur other work, the more melodic side of u amazing stuff

this is kewl for the club, but im personally not such a fan, i say stick to ur melodic side, but thats me hehe, i geuss this is the music of the future in a way

Posted by andreas1999 on Apr-19-2005 08:07:

hehe, i know what you mean. i will try to do some more melodic stuff next time. i actually just completed a remix for "iio - kiss you" that should (hopefully) come out with the cd single. it's a bit more melodic at least.. the vocals however...... :/

i agree. i like the grooviness, the almost tech and house like feel of this track. down and dark and dirty. good stuff. but yeah, let's get the right parts uncompressed and phattened up a bit and bam.

when everyone else is doing vocals... death to the vocals!!
or at least minimalize them and do something fun with them.

Imo, you're one of the most skilled artists on TA. This is a bit overcompressed, but I think this tracks fits with overcompression actually. This is for sure very special!!

yes. a dub would probably have been the way to go when doing the iio remix. but on the other hand, there's not much left from the original mix if you remove the vocals. i like vocals, especially when doing a remix (and ESPECIALLY when they asked for something with a bit of a hook), but dub's are nice as well if you have a great melody to back them up.

thanks! i have, since reading everyone's opinion, removed a bit of the compression but it's hard to keep the "fatness" of the track with less compression. but i'll work it out
