Hey i work there in the burger bar and i was closing last saturday... there were maybe 6 people there at 10pm. I got to thinking... what a waste of a space. We could easily put on a 50 person TA party im sure. cover would be very cheap or free and i could just bring my decks and we could party away. A one time thing with maybe a bunch of TA djs.
1. Any interest? Who would help out? Who would go?
2. Can we get 50+ people?
3. Think the space is ok?
Just theorizing. The place stays open every sat night anyways and i have met the manager before, i just thought this might be a cool idea.
what time does the place close?

id help out for sure. although i am not a ubc'er i think i could manage to put up with it
or instead of driving to UBC for the PIT (with their poor sound system), althought a great dj will be playing (AquaYak), you can drop by 8 ball cafe in coquitlam. No cover, and some decent tracks being droped to ensure everyone is having a good time.
what about going back to the sfu pub? wasnt the last electronic event up there a pretty good success?

For about $80 you can rent 2 Mackie 450 speakers from Tom Lee Music and get excellent / loud sound. They have even better sounding speakers, the 1530, but they're a little bigger probably needing a minivan to move them and extra cost. A 1501 subwoofer would be a good addition for about $60 extra. If you have good sound it helps a lot. So if you have 50 people a great speaker system is only about $3 or $4 each for the night.
I can spin on my laptop dj system (mostly various house genres ) but am sick so grounded for a while.
im going to try and book a saturday tommorrow, shoudlnt be a problem.
i am going to go with vinyl only djs, unless people who have written their own music and have cd players want to bring them.
once i annouce a date ill pick the djs tout de suit.
itll be people you dont get to see too often.
