I've seen this film.

I remember that I first heard it from an otaku and wasn't all that excited (the guy was completely "OMG, that's " ), but I was trying to pull a girl back in that time (it was about 2 years ago) and decided to watch it in the cinema with her. Heh

The film felt like it was an excellent an advertising stunt from Hayao Miazaki, even though he was quite famous already before S.A. Simply put, it reminded me a lot of "Alice in Wonderland", but with Japanese thematics. Instead of having a good story carried by a nice scenario, it was the other way round, and that's what spoiled the film for me. The story lacked substance, whereas the images were flawlessly designed, bringing whatever exotic elements that ressembled Japanese culture they could find. The hot bath, the lamps... with some mysterious characters. The girl didn't like it either... I still think we should've watched Finding (?) Nemo, but she had to go with her cousing in the previous week and had watched it already

After watching S.A. though, I did watch "Grave of fireflies", and I liked it a lot more

Because it's cute and because there must be a subliminal message somewhere

My sister is annoyingly addicted to S.A., to the point her e-mail address is Chihiro.Lira...

well he said that spirited away will be his final project where he will be drawing the art himself. all his prveious works are almost completely hand drawn by miyazaki.

No

I saw spirited away about three weeks ago. Disney did a really good job with the English dub, and I don't think I would have liked it as much if I saw it in Japanese.
