Postage is going up again. After being nearly stagnant for 20 years, rates have constantly gone up a cent or two every 2-3 years. Whats with that?

Im kind of banned from using FEDEX (dont ask) and I have an innate fear of the color brown, so I won't use UPS.

I guess DHL is still an option though...

I dont know that one.

I guess I could go the route of my president and pray for a solution. That works sometimes, right?

30% of the time, it works all the time.

How often does it work 42% of the time?

lets see:

30/24=100/x

so 30x=4200

so x=140% of the time

correct?

i haven't done algebra since the dark ages.

Posted by tribu on Apr-19-2005 05:13:

I think youve got the right idea.

30/100 = x/42

4230 = 100x

1260 = 100x

x=12.6

so 12.6% of the time, it works 42% of the time?

Weird, Id thought it would have been more.

you did it backwards.

remember that you're comparing 2 different ratios.

so 3o%=100

and 42% of the time = x, cuz we don't know ex.

then you cross multiply.

so 32x=4200

so 42% of the time, it works 140% of the time

no way, the way I was asking, the 42 relates to the 100%. so would it be:

30/x = 100/42?
