Official NFL Draft 2005 Thread
Well, As you all know, The NFL Draft is this Saturday on ESPN, Any thoughts on who the teams are going to pick, The Miami Dolphins will get the 1st round #2 pick, I hope it's a wise one.
dolphins should draft a qb with that 1st-#2. if they are looking for an RB, they can get one in free agency or whatever.
im interested to see how the Lions will do this season with jeff garcia at QB. as you might have known, he's the canadian dude
i will be watching the draft saturday as im done all my exams by then, woopie!!
Mel Kiper has the dolphins getting Edwards, so it looks like the dolphins wont get him haha, maybe we'll get Smith if still avialiable or Downtown Ronnie Brown, a trade down might not be a bad idea either, as long as we dont go too low.
DOLPHINS SUCK!
MUHAHAHA
Sorry Jet & Jaguar fan here(yeah we suck too). I hear that the Fins want to trade their pick. Whats Saban up to? Saw a rumour on the net that the Fins and Chargers are talking a trade involving Brees(although he just signed a new contract) I guess that Rivers kid is doing good over the summer
Jeff Garcia is gonna start ahead of Harrington? Garcia sucks even Harrington who sucks too is better than him.
seems like the general feeling down here is thast we get a reciever, if not Edwards than maybe Mike Williams if we trade down.Although we wont be mad if we get Brown or C.Williams or whatever.Alex Smith is really looking like he's going to 49ers.I wonder what Saban thinks of Rodgers.Im kinda expecting a trade down though, the Chiefs have been looking into getting Surtain, among other teams, thats our trade bait along with the 2nd pick.
You know what, in my lifetime (not to mention pretty much this entires franchise history)theyve never come close to picking this high, should be a fun draft.Me and some friends are gonna go watch it at a draft party in H(.)(.)ters
I don't understand why the Dolphins don't trade down, get Jason Campbell, pick up some extra personnel (that they desperately need) and sign Shaun Alexander. Then they'll have a solid QB to build and a proven RB with some more drafted talent.
It sucks that we lot Patrick Surtain to a trade, He was such a great player for the Phins for the past few years, This is most certainly gonna be a different Dolphins Team durring the 2005 season, But at least we still have our important players like Jason Taylor, Zack Thomas, As well as Chris Chambers among other players that are still around.

Have to disagree with you there, neither is a legitimate starter in this league.
Draft is underway:
1. San Francisco 49ers: Alex Smith (QB - Utah)
2. Miami Dolphins: Ronnie Brown (RB - Auburn)
3. Cleveland Browns: Braylon Edwards (WR - Michigan)
Hahaha, the Browns drafted a Wolverine. And seeing as how every single Browns fan is also a Buckeye fan (meaning they HATE Michigan), the irony is fantastic.
**Hoping Mike Williams slips to Vikings @ Pick 7**
4. Chicago Bears: Cedric Benson (RB - Texas)
I like this kid. He's going to be great. Too bad he's in the NFC North against us...
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Carnell Williams (RB - Auburn)
2 RB's from Auburn in the Top 5. And they didn't even play for a national championship
6. Tennessee Titans: Adam Jones (CB - WVU)
Vikes are on the clock!!
Wow, we passed up Mike Williams. That pisses me off.
7. Minnesota freaking Vikings: Troy Williamson (WR - South Carolina)
woo hoo Ronnie Brown
we got ourselves a young RB with fresh legs to carry us for a while
If we woudve gotten Edwards, well there really isnt anybody to throw him the ball at the moment,so we filled our RB need instead.
Antrel wnet to Arizona
good luck man
I just saw how the Broncos got Clarrett with the last pick of the day , any decent RB that puts on a denver uniform does good, so imagine this guy.
aaron rodgers was in the waiting room waiting till the 24th pick,i find that kinda funny
and wow the vikings actually didnt make any mistakes this time in the draft with clock management and such...o wait Troy Williamson over mike williams
i just browsed through the picks .. i didn't really analyze every pick .. but here are some teams that stood out ..
detroit -- picks mike williams ..
.. could detroit now be labeled as the "greatest show on turf" now, overtaking st. louis for that label .. they now have williams, roy williams, and charles rodgers, and az-zahir hakim (orginal member of the first show .. go figure) at receivers, good tight ends in stephen alexander and schlesinger, a good running back (kevin jones), and a quarterback that has proven he can perform (joey harrington) ... they have a decent pass rush, and dre bly can perform .. so if they don't make the playoffs this year, a major major major disappointment for them .. seriously!..
denver -- picked maurice clarrett .. the one team that would treat him as a needed player on a team .. and who else to pick him up than mike shannahan (which seems to be the master at getting the best out of running backs, or something like that ..) .. first davis .. gary .. then anderson .. then portis .. the next would probably be griffin .. could clarett be next ???
..
green bay -- picked aaron rodgers .. seems the best pick to be in the quarterback throne .. a very hard shoe to fill, (brett favre) .. seems aaron rodgers could fit nicely ??
buffalo -- roscoe parrish .. i mention this, because miami u is my fav college football team .. now buffalo has j.p. lohsman, mcgahee at running back, and moulds, parrish, lee evans, and josh reed (remember this guy .. a close duplicate to clayton (also from lsu) from tampa bay) .. could buffalo's offense be better than the one they had in the early 90's ?? probably not, but close
san francisco -- alex smith and frank gore .. alex smith seems to be the logical pick for them, i guess , since they had no offense last year with the quarterback .. but i still think braylon edwards could have been the better pick for them, and given tim rattay a second crack at the jon .. he has proven to be a good decision quarterback .. sf just needs an offensive line ..
but they also stole frank gore .. no one really recognizes how much of a bruising running back he is .. he could surprise many people this year .. but with him .. what about kevan barlow ?? he's a good running back .. and i guess they can work on their passing game starting with eric johnson, the tight end ..
this is going to be an interesting 2006 season .. we could possibly see as many as 5 teams enter the playoffs that did not make it last year ..
Detroit has marcus pollard stretching the field at tight end.Joey harrington has no excuses now, hopefully Rogers doesn't get hurt again.

..
The analysts are saying that the Vikings had the best draft and the Packers had the worst. I agree, seeing as how the Packers defense is going to be even worse than last year's. Rodgers is a decent pickup... but doesn't help them at all this year, and they wasted the rest of their picks for the most part.
I really liked the Bucs draft...got a running back, a good linebacker,a pass catching tight end,2 safeties, offensive line help and a project with good size at receiver in larry Brackins.
I think New Orleans had a decent draft...Can mcpherson put some pressure on Brooks
Broncos take Clarett, and I'm willing to bet my house that they'll turn him into a 1000 yard rusher. Shanahan just never stops dishing them out!
And I agree Harrington has no excuse now in Detroit...I'd say if he doesn't show some NICE improvement in his numbers this year, he needs to ride the pine and they need to bring in somebody new.
I just found out late last night that, Miami Dolphins just signed the undrafted Brock Berlin from UM, I think this is good, He was a great QB for the Hurricanes at the time, And I think having him playing for the Dolphins might help us in the future.

.. anyways .. why do people still keep jeff george in the running for fill-in quarterbacks everytime, although he tends to screw up all the time ? because all the analysts say he has the "potential" to blow it up .. and he was a career high school phenomenon .. something like that ..
