Cubase SX - Midi features (help me)
Sometimes when I make a beat in Cubase I think: "this is too slow, I want it twice as fast". But I'm kinda tired of always deleting the beat and making it again, but this time with, for example, 1/32 notes instead of 1/16 (making it twice as fast)..
Isn't there a feature in Cubase hidden somwhere that allows you to select a piece of midi notes (1 beat or something like that) and stretch it/set a new tempo...
Hell, they have it in Reason
(you just select "stretch" or sumthin' (can't remember) and then it asks you for a new speed in percentages. Enter 50% and it's twice as fast as the original, enter 200% and it's twice longer)
Is this possible in Cubase?? (btw. I'm using SX 2)
Dont quite understand what you mean -
Do you mean you want to speed up the WHOLE track, or just a section of it - ie,1 or 2 bars within your track, or just tweak a sample to fit with the tempo of your track?
Il try my best though -
1) To speed up your whole track simply click over the tempo on the right side of the transport bar and set it to the tempo you want.
2)To speed up just a few bars (incase you want to increase the tempo half way through) goto the Project tab> then Tempo Track> This allows you to draw a line where you want to increase your tempo in either a ramp (gradual increase) or jump (not very Dj friendly!!)
3)Or select the midi part you want to speed up and right click it, go down to process, then Time stretch - this allows you to either compress or expand your midi part to how you want it.
Hope this helps - if not, try and put down a more detailed explanation of what you want and Ill try again!!
MP
1. highlight whatever notes you want to "stretch"
2. under the MIDI menu, select Logical Presets
3. choose Standard Set 1, and you'll see "double tempo" and "half tempo" in the middle of the menu
Thanks, that doube tempo / half tempo was just what I was looking for

Hey I've got a similar question about this sort of thing. In Fruity with chords drawn out your able to turn them into 16th notes and 32 notes by pressing ctrl-u, chopping the chords up creating an arpeggio.. is it possible to do this in cubase?
I have another question
If I have an audio loop at a certain tempo, if I time stretch it to be say, 4 bars long, will it be beatmatched?
^^ it should be, yes.
