AvB interview in Windsor Social Magazine!

Hey kids!!
Today while picking up some lunch, i came across a small magazine located on the counter. Its called Windsor Social Magazine ( i'm pretty sure there is a Toronto Social run by the same company as well)and it just showcases the towns night/party/bar scene...so anyways i happen to look down and see none other then the beautiful face of ARMIN VAN BUUREN on the cover!

After i got back home with the mag, i read through his small interview and came across a question regardeing his expiriences playing across Canada..and this is an exact quote from the man's mouth:

Windsor Social: " Do you enjoy performing in Canada?

Armin van Buuren: " Canada has one of the best club scenes in the world. It is a great feeling to play for so many trance enthusiasts. No country has more 'trance addicts'.

now.. i don't know if that is an intentional shout-out.. but it looks pretty effin' close to me!
just another reason why Armin is now #1 in my books!

It's called good PR. How else is a business man who relies on public opinion to make a living going to respond to such a silly question....,"no Canade sucks"?

I totally agree with this statement. I mean dont get me wrong, I am a massive Armin fan, he is the greatest, but all of the interviews I have heard/read where he is prasing the Canadian scene, are all done by Canadian interviewers.

I cant say I dont agree with your statement, but look at how he acts when hes up on stage. Always smiling, giving autographs, shaking peoples hands etc.

He totally enjoys what hes doing, and that beats any other DJ who just goes up and spins with no crowd interaction.

I'm gonna have to agree with Stingray. I was around the stage for the majority of Decadence and you can see that the man genuinely enjoys what he's doing. He was always smiling and dancing along to the music. And everytime he had spare time he would be shaking hands, giving autographs and exchanging comments with the crowd. Not a lot of DJs can say they have that much atmosphere interaction when playing sets.

Armin is a good actor. Too bad he cant DJ

There is no question he loves what he is doing, but he is always smiling and loving it no matter what country he is spinning in.

Why do you say such things?

because he spends more time doing god poses and air guns than he does mixing a record or adjusting his levels?

Posted by shanny on Apr-22-2005 21:10:

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Posted by Jayx1 on Apr-22-2005 21:12:

but what i said was a fact, not an opinion...

Posted by shanny on Apr-22-2005 21:15:

It might be a fact that he does a lot of "god poses" and guns, but its another thing altogether to say he can't dj.

That's where we disagree.

he should spend less time posing and more time playing...

The only time I've seen AVB without a smile on his face was at Decadence. When we was playing his encore tracks some weirdo came out of nowhere and started harassing him by tugging at his clothes and trying to steal his vest. The bouncers were nowhere in sight. Luckily my friend and I were able to coax the guy away without incident.

Have you noticed him making a mistake mixing or adjusting his levels before? He's so good he can keep the crowd going with his attention to them AND spin like a GOD at the same time!!!!

I only heard him once at D2 and I never heard anything "off" there...then again, your ears are probably tuned in a lot better than mine! Perhaps if you didn't listen to him EXPECTING for him to make a mistake you wouldn't catch it?
