Tune into the Beat Co-Op this Friday night on WWSP Stevens Point, Wisconsin's only alternative for real dance music.
This week we're featuring a very special live performance from DJ Lucas Smith out of Madison, Wisconsin. For those of you who weren't fortunate enough to catch Lucas at "Addiction." his dark, deep progressive sound is truly his own. The Beat Co-Op is extremely lucky to have Lucas make the trip up from Madison, and it'd be a travesty for you to miss out on the set.
Of course you're also always guaranteed a nice mix of Progressive and Trance from Beat Co-Op resident Rob Turner following DJ Lucas, so tune into the Beat Co-Op tomorrow night, Friday 4/22/05 from 10PM to 1AM CST for some of the best electronic dance beats the midwest has to offer.

I just got back into town, but the girlfriend and I are tuned in.
fuck, i think i missed this... did someone record this??
made it back to madison at around 5.....your coffee didn't do much rjt
but i made back alright
one thing i learned last night.......i need to become comfortable mixing totally in the headphones. for the first 2/3 of my set, the monitors were way up on the walls, so i'd cue up the track and start to bring it in and the beats would be off, so i'd try to correct still using the headphones and it led to pretty much all botched transitions due to the delay until the monitors were closer and pointed at me
i thought i was just having a bad night at first, but then i'd beatmatch the cue track spot-on using the monitors, and then i'd check both tracks in the headphones, and they would be off!
so DJs, if you are like me and learned to mix using monitors and never had to mix totally using your headphones, i suggest you learn (if you want to spin out and avoid monitor setups not to your liking). but after that was all worked out, i had a great time throwing down tracks that i haven't played in a long time....it was a blast.
rjt's set was great....tight transitions and dope tracks....not surprising that we found out last night that he is officially a RISING STAR now. (provide more details rob!)
thanks to rob for inviting me up to spin and introducing me to his class friends.....it was a great time getting "CRUNK" in the studio
i'm looking forward to next time...
ROFL!
Lucas it makes me incredibly happy to see that you made it home safe and sound, I'm sorry the coffee didn't help as much as I'd hoped it would!
As far as Lucas' set goes, I'm listening to it right now, and enjoying i thoroughly, so Lucas I'll send you a copy (Or post it online and just give you the URL) and you can let me know what you think in hindsight!
The monitor situation is something I guess over the years I've gotten used to. As far as my set goes, I feel like I had a pretty good night until about the last half hour of my set where I crossed theline between "Had just enough beers to mix fluidly" to "Holy Shit! You mean you brought a bottle of wine to the studio, AWESOME!" And proceeded to forget I was using the rotaries to cue down, thus leaving the faders up, and providing some exceptionally interesting sounding samples in the middle of tracks! But meh, who cares, because I ahd a fucking blast last night.
Lucas dude, you are definitely ALWAYS welcome in Stevens Point my man, next time you're crashing on the couch though
Seriously though, I really had a good time, and I can't wait to have more TA's up to hit the decks on 90FM
Edit: BTW, I also had a voice mailbox/email box full of feedback, mostly on Lucas' set (Early set = more people listening on Friday, Late Set = People at bars... generally), and people were loving the dark progressive. It was, according to on R. Lee on the UWSP campus:
