hehe, kel was more on my train of thought. i just love stirring console fanboys coz there hasnt been a game yet released on a console that wasnt better on the PC tho if i had a console, id have an xbox i reckon. but thank god i have a lovely P4.... *pats his princess*

the fact that the xbox is a better built, more technologically advanced machine (if it's even fair to compare them...), and can do some really insanely awesome shit when it's chipped
and the fact that the playstation is made by sony, so it's low quality, well... it must be better!

anywho, new xbox is exciting, but I'm more interested in waiting and sitting aside to see what people can get out of it (ie hax), and waiting for it to drop to a decent price but yeah, kewl

PS3 is said to have 9 cores running at more than 4ghz while the Xbox is running at 3 cores at 3ghz with 256 meg memory the graphics chip updated on the X800 specs.. looks like the PS3 wil smoke the Xbox ,9 cores running at 4ghs is amazing, they have spent so long developing this cell chip and looks like it will pay off...

there is still not much info released on it. Apparently it is going to have 512MB of system memory (8x more that is in the current xbox!!).

I think there are more and better gameson Playstation 2 than XBOX, bar Halo 1 & 2, but teh PS2 has limited hardware

I admit, the PS3 will be shiteloads more powerful than anything else on the planet,

no doubt I will get both..... purely coz I want Halo 3, and a machine wit ha CELL processor in it (PS3)

of interest, is the fact that both next generation consoles will feature a processor heavily based on the PowerPC 970 CPU which is at the heart of all Mac G5 computers currently. The XBOX will feature a variant of it and the CELL processor, when left without its 8 vector units, is a G5 processor.

aahh well apart from being a mac user, and appreciating well designed things, Microsoft just can't design an operating system if they tried. Long horn..... i mean.... long in the tooth... is going to be so outdated by the time it comes out it's a joke!

And... I CAN compare the hardware because I know for sure that the PS3 will be teh CELL processor, with one CPU unit and 8 vector units. The CELL is the most powerful processor in the world by far. Read some of the whitepapers, its truly an amazing piece of gear. The problem being its extremely hard to code for, but this comes at the tradeoffs of great speed boosts!

The XBOX 2 definitely has a PowerPC CPU, based lightly around the G5 (970). And the irony is that the only machines capable of developing XBOX360 games, are Apple PowerMac G5s, because they have the same CPU.

i am also almost certain that ATI will be supplying the Videochipset for the 360, and it will me embedded eDRAM, kinda like hard cache on a CPU, so it will be extremely fast, and allow huge amounts of data to be pushed through the system. From what i can tell, the video stuff is similar to a PC Radeo X800/X850 video card.,

nVidia is supplying the core video stuff for PS3.

Im not an expert, and I am just gathering my data from very reliable sources on the net. Being a graphics and effects person by trade, I try to keep in the (reliabel) loop as much as possible.

At the end of the say, I think you will see just as much competition between the units as there is with current generation boxes
